I have a few ideas:

 1. Your a villager and you have to make it to the castle with the antenna parts to bring Frankenstein's monster alive to help you fight the zombies, you have epic battles that don't let you pass to next part until they are over
      - Village battle, find the parts for the antenna before passing to the bridge.
      - Bridge, fight your way across one section at a time, with like 5 or 6 buyable debris
      - Castle battle is more serious, with soul boxes needed to be filled to charge antenna array
      - The wall would be just an open part or where you go to climb the ladder to place the parts.
      - The map ends with someone saying "It's alive!".
      - Could be made longer if you had to fight your way from the castle to the village to get parts and then back again.

 2. Dr Frankenstein is making these zombies and you have to go stop him.
      - You start in the village hut with zombies coming in the windows
      - You collect zombie skulls that randomly drop from zombies to give to a man that will give you a key to the castle
      - Once you have the key you can cross the bridge, but then have to fight Frankenstein's monster in the middle.
      - Then you enter the castle and have to destroy the Dr's machine that is producing the zombies with Frankenstein boss rounds?


I voted Iron Prometheus, but I am now thinking Castle-Stein, prepare to wake the dead.

I'd worry about making the map look better before worrying about hype pics or whatever. Also, I approve of the name.

Looking good, and Iron Prometheus is the best name of the three but just doesn't sound right TBH, doesn't really roll off the tongue easy, but meh :D Keep up the excellent work, excited for more updates to come.

Also what has happened to your old W.I.P 'High Noon' ??? It looked really nice.

I kinda like Your 1st Idea, you could add to the idea that the Monster could fight with you, like the civil protector from SoE

Hex, since I know you must love cheesy B-movies given your previous work, I would like to make a heartfelt appeal that you ignore the pleblords voting for "Iron Prometheus" and just roll with "Science of Evil". It perfectly encompasses every shitty drive-in sci-fi horror title perfectly, and also will prevent confusion with Treyarch's (obviously much worse) "Iron Dragon" knockoff.

M8, it's not about the player. It's about making sure the gate not going through the walkway if you raise it. Doesn't seem like there's a lot of space between the gate top and the walk way path.

Also, holy shit those walls are tall.

well the mapping is like 80 percent done, i just got to do some fine tuning, decals, add various models around the map to fill in the empty spots then i just gotta do zones, clips and debris - then ill hand it over to whoever wants to script it

The black & white/sepia color makes me feel like a detective who comes across little clues here and there and are crescendo events that have massive amounts of zombies accompanied by other abominations that come after you. The quests are to find out the history of the castle and what happened there leading up to the castle itself and an encounter with Frankenstein's monster in possibly like a 3 part battle. Get his health down to 50% and he flees back into his castle; he then comes back out later and is at 75% health. He attacks you and brings more friends this time and you have to take him down to 25% health and then he retreats back to his quarters. Then comes the final battle where all hell breaks loose and he comes back along with a whole army of bloodthirsty minions and there you make your stand and fight him to the death!

Oh I thought the mapping was pretty much done, that's good to hear. I will be interested to see how you manage to make spawners on that bridge area, the easy way out would be risers but that would be kind of unrealistic IMO. Perhaps they could spawn in the water and climb up the sides or something.

Man I have to admit, when I saw the name I wasn't too enthused about the map, but after taking a look at it, the old style castle look is sweet! With all the new heavily modded and futuristic maps I could always go for an old fashioned 19th century style map :) Looking forward to it!

 I had a thought...just a thought. I'm loving this map, probably my favorite map I've seen on this site so far, mainly because I'm a mid-evil  kind of person. With all the pictures you have in sepia and stuff it got me thinking. The game starts off in sepia until you turn on the power, maybe kinda like Ascension... but definitely better than Ascension lol.

i'm currently messing around with the vision as i'm not sure what atmosphere i want it to have, i'm thinking a silent hill look would fit it perfectly as for the name change i wanted to distance my map from the new dlc map name

I personally would love to see all perks from Black Ops 1 and 2. If possible, an easteregg is always desired ;) Would like to see weapons from all games (maybe an axe or some castle weapons) that actually reflect the setting of the map (a bit weird seeing bright colored weapons in a castle) :P

Keep up the sweet work, hex. I'll let you know if I have any other ideas.

Honestly, a fucking mace. I was sooooooo pissed that Der Memendrache dropped the ball on this and didn't have a knight zombie to fight and didn't have a mace.

This map looks good. Infact, it looks so good that calling it "Return of The Dead" would be really lame in my honest opinion. I feel like that's the most generic name you could call a map. Why not call it "Die Burg" or something? I keep forgetting this map exist because the name isn't even something memorable. Other than that, the map looks really nice. (:

The name of the map is not final, eventually i will settle on one, but it won't be a german titled name as those are way over used, i have been taking a liking to "Ragnarok"

I don't think so. It looks like hex has made his own model/prefab. I can see a couple of models that I know are from der riese. Looks amazing though and can't wait for a release/trailer.

heres the thing, i hadnt played the new map until like the day it came out on pc and never saw any vids past the first room so when i started making the trap and finished it i showed jbird and he informed me that its basically the same trap thats in DE lol so i dont know if its fate or whatever but now im starting to think im psychic :troll:

Update: the dungeon is coming together nicely.  :)

Try to go out of the box and get models from a WIDE variety of sources (As in, something other than BO1, BO2, COD4, MW's). I've seen some maps with guns from Battlefield and F.E.A.R, try going for something like that. There's only so many times you can use the PDW and Kiparis before it starts getting old :please:

Attention anyone who has castle themed weapons or is willing to make them (bow, hatchet, axe, hammer, sword) etc - looking to get some of these in the map. If you have these or are willing to make them let me know! would be much appreciated and hey you would get to showcase your awesome work in an awesome map!

Mostly looking for a medieval sword with a nice animation to go with it - doesn't have to be to fancy, just something people would enjoy swinging around, killing zombies with.

Currently looking for someone of great talent in the weapons department to join the Ragnarok WIP - you will be credited as co creator along with me and pieman upon its release and will be involved in every step of the maps development process.

We are looking for someone to run the weapons section of this project - which will only include standard box and wall weapons (no wonder weapons or equipment) as those are being taken care of. If you are interested in joining and have a good knowledge of porting weapons properly please feel free to leave a comment or message one of us.

This is being done in order to get the map out sooner to you guys and give us more time to focus on our individual task for the project such as mapping and scripting Ragnarok.

To me it seems like a lock-on Rocket Launcher. It does look a bit OP though. If possible, Hex, could you increase the lock on time? It just seems too quick to be balanced and not overpowered.  :poker: Other than that, good job man! An Update:

We just did a coop test with three people and hit the image limit, but we made it in game with 2.  So, we are really close (hitting image limit with 3 people came from it loading 3 character files instead of 2).  Over the next few days we will try to optimize the hell out of the map (like what we did for leviathan), but it is not looking good for some of the features I had planned.  So I bring up the question: would the community be OK with T4m and the full Ragnarok experience, or would we have to release a scaled back version that runs on the normal w@w.

Why not both? or make a low definition version (like ConvicioNDR did with his map) for non T4M Users

I would take T4M over a watered-down map any day of the week. Most T4M fixes are minor tweaks anyway, it's not worth losing entire features over!

In most cases I would agree that gameplay beats everything. And I'm not here to suck anyone's wee-wee with my next statement, but when it comes to PieMan and Hex I believe that most of us want to see and play the best maps that they can make with the fewest number of compromises.

Hex/Pie I can find you 100 more textures to overuse so you can be wayyy above limit within 30 - 60 seconds so radi has to use t4m to test it.

you open 2D view in radiant until its fullscreen and textures litterally all you can see then compare some by pressing U to see whats in use.
if called like makin_trim_metal or okinawa_trim_metal_noscortch etc and instead of 5 identical ones being used stick with one by pressing:
TEXTURES > FIND / REPLACE...
You don't even have to type in their names just press the textures in the 2D view for replacing and apply to reduce texture usage.

And the last time we say these guys was on Halloween Town, and we were glad that they stayed there. But now, if he brings them back, it's gonna be fucking killer.

There are no words to express how incredible this map looks! I literally get up every morning to look at this map for the last 2 months. Leviathan was amazing and surpasses every map in its time range. It even surpasses Black ops 1 maps, and black ops 2 maps. I can't wait for the release of this map in all honesty. The layout the quality of the maps feel pretty much on the same layout at treyarch. I'm surprised you guys don't work for the team. THIS COMMUNITY LOVES YOU GUYS !!!!!
