Title: normal map help

so here is my color map (.dds) (i changes it to white)

Is there any way to make these bricks look like theyre actually popping out, they seem very flat?

looks alright to me, some poke out a little, the others are sort of invert

Manually edited the color image to highlight the bricks then make it a normal map.
Then overlay your original normal 50% to get the bricks detail back.

How are you making normal maps now?

welll I kinda just downloaded a pack for this. Ill look up how to make them on my own so I can understand your suggestion

i didnt sugggest, i just said it looks alright already lol

program called CrazyBump is pretty good for making your own nmls and spcs if your interested in doing that

haha was responding to codmodd. seems light the right light hitting it makes a difference too. Ill try out some other ones, maybe even just use geo to pop out a few

Ssbump generator is free and makes great normals for codwaw.   
Ndo is more complicated and cost money.
Nvidia has a normal map filter for photoshop.
3dsmax has a "render to texture" option and lots of free plugins.

you can also make a bumpmap based on the color map with an image editor and make the normal map with it.

you can see the bump map i made based on your texture and the normal map made with it.

thanks man ill try it out in WAW! what is "bump" in asset manager?

there's no "bump" in asset manager. i made that bumpmap by myself. that was what i was trying to tell you. make your own bump maps based on your textures and then generate the normal maps using those bump maps.

usually you either get DEPTH or DETAIL but i handpainted the lines in photoshop an overlayed the detailed normalmap with 5 passes:

Here you got both, dont have time to see what it looks like but you try it out since i saved TGA for better preserved quality then shitty imgur :)

Radimax ill be using your normal map in the map, but I marked codmodd as best because Ill be using those programs in the future, if I could mark multiple best answers I would  :)
