Dixmor Asylum



Story

Dixmor Asylum

A Hospital for the Criminally Insane. Atleast that what it was before it was infested with zombies. Two scientist who worked at the asylum thought it would be a great idea to use an inmate as a test subject for their drug experiments. Well... It went wrong. As the drug they injected the inmate with made him want to dine on human flesh, so he killed the two scientists, causing them to become infected. They then rose from the dead and began spreading the infection to all the other inmates and scientists who worked at the asylum. 2 inmates Danny and Leo, who knew of the infected,  began to plot their escape, so that they wouldn't join their other fellow infected inmate.

They must....

Notes

This is my first released map and my third worked on. Worked on it for about 5 months. Its based of Manhunt's 2 Asylum. Hope you enjoy. Ta-ta.

Play solo or as a duo, it's more challenging that way. :P
Scientist Zombies spawners are stronger then the other spawners. Not a bug, rather something I implemented.

im sure the zombies dont path into the elevator because u are using some type of script model in elevator. Anytime i have ever tried to have zombies run into a script model the path nodes disconnect. i had this issue on one of my maps. I got rid of the script model tent and it fixed my issue. This is just a guess though. great map btw.

Good map! I really liked the custom player voices and viewmodels, and the weapon ports were pretty spot-on.

However, I felt like the map lacked a bit of interior detail. The buildings outside looked fantastic, but the hallways within were kinda bland and simple. It was also annoying to see the same cell being copypasted throughout an entire wing of the hospital.

I think the randomized button puzzle is interesting, but it got pretty boring doing it again on a second playthru. And the reward for doing so was honestly a bit too much. Once you get the MK2 from the puzzle you've pretty much won then-and-there.

It also ended pretty abruptly. I was just starting to get warmed up when, boom, I'm outside and EVERY perk and wallbuy, the mystery box, and pack-a-punch are all crammed into one perfect training area. Again, pretty easy.

Just did quick playthrough with Relaxing and Resortified, even though the map was short, it felt that everything was properly done, from weapons to layout. Only thing I felt bad was that I could jump inside some of the windows, detail being low and use of low quality shaders. Everything else was perfect. Btw, did 2-player run quickly and Radi lives in a box now :D

Great atmosphere, great vision file. Puzzle stressed me out, lol. Had fun. Looked just like an insane asylum.

I absolutely loved this map. In my top 5's for sure.

Just did a run with me and my friend. The button pressing mini game was so fun and I think that's really what made the map for me. Just trying to figure out the combination and working together really felt right in a zombies map.

When does this buyable ending triggered? We did all 6 chests and have the perks and me and my friend are on round 21 right now and stuck with this ending.

Great map, I love the atmosphere!

I noticed three things while I was playing:

After restarting the map, the zombies immediately started to spawn even though I hadn't assembled the 57. That in itself is fine, but when I bought ammo, it took my points but didn't give me any bullets.

I also noticed that headshots were only 70 points. Again, that's fine, but it also seemed like when I would score a headshot with some weapons it would only be worth 50 points, and I was clearly on the zombies head.

The last thing I noticed was that guns like the Ballista and R870 were a bit weak. For example, the Ballista wasn't a 1-shot kill on round 4, even if you scored a headshot, and the Rem was inconsistent, either killing or just maiming with body shots.

As I said though, the atmosphere is creepy as hell, which makes the map fun to play. I loved the custom voice files, and the layout was challenging, but rewarding once you got outside. Great map!

Really good map got a bit of viewers on twitch :D. Got to round 32 due too i missed a soul box and couldn't go back to get it due to i was down on ground where pap was unless you don't have to get them?. I noticed the door i could open but wouldn't let me open.

Just watched some of RelaxingEnd's video on this map and have to admit it looks like a hell of a lot of fun. Time to dust off the PC and try this out I guess. :D

Gave this map a go, and boy was it worth it. The map has a lot of outstanding features and is generally very fun to play, the weapons felt very well ported, the custom characters were brilliant, and the progression through the map gave a feel of escaping from the asylum from the very depths and getting out through a window :)

Overall, this is a map I would highly recommend playing at least once, +1 for definite to the mapper :D

Good map played it mainly solo and got to round 14. Map looked quite good and decent gameplay and quite fun. Very difficult solo as there is little room. Especially hard to fill some of the soul boxes solo. As it has been said, the detail could have been a little bit better in some areas but overall the map looked quite good even the outside looked pretty good from the viewpoint of several windows.

Will try again co-op. Interesting introduction as well. Also dont know if this was said or not, but on the barricades right at the top of the first ramp/staircase, powerups spawn in the zombie area.

Just activates a nice ambient music to slay zombies to lol. But yea just a musical activation after all five is all.

This map is 88/8 m8 gr8 map 10/10 best custom zombie map have played so far. It makes my penis wiggle with excitment when i have the sassafrass in my hand and my weiner in the other. (Serious Review now) Really the best map ive played graphic are good but the general layout and design of the map was great the soul boxes were a fun addition all six chest equals all six perks. The final area was amazing with all the guns and the last soul box me and my friend 2 manned it till round 50 just for fun in the outside area just to run trainz.

One of the best custom zombie maps I've ever played.  I'm a huge fan of Manhunt 2, and the way that zombies blends with it is absolutely fantastic. When I first saw the W.I.P for this I was thoroughly impressed. Actually playing it, seeing how perfectly everything was executed, from the ambiance, to the weapons and to Leo and Danny I am confident in saying that this map is of the highest excellence. Looking forward to future work.  :D

From round 10(ish) upward insta kil doesn't work it will take there heads off but they don't take 1 more bullet to die they take a normal ammout as if their head is still on and its not insta kill. Great map tho.

All my friends would do is turn their brightness all the way up, go into the window next to the elevator and walk up the stairs and I didn't/couldn't do it because I don't have my brightness that high and I'd die every time I tried. They were so annoying doing that shit.

Luck and process of elimination. It's best done if you have a guy on each floor and a guy babysitting a crawler. Otherwise you'll need a pen and paper to help yourself remember.



Anyways, I have to say, this sets the bar pretty high for future "first map" posts, which tend to be pretty lackluster. Of course, when I say you set the bar high, that implies that people will actually look at the bar before posting their map. This implication, of course, is highly unrealistic. So it is safe to say that we will be seeing lots of stock box maps with poorly "Engrished" descriptions for years to come. Even so, I salute you for your effort and thank you for a map that I played until the end for the fun of it instead of as an obligation as a member of this community.

This was a first map... Holy shit. I didn't even realize. This map is in my top 5's. This guy going to have great things coming in the future then. Can't wait.

Are you getting that error from the recent update? I tested the whole ee before uploading and didn't get any errors. :(

Just tried it again and it seems to happen if you do a couple rounds while still on that step, cause the crawlers keep on dying while I am in the middle of that step and then 2 rounds later I get it.

This seems to happen in co-op at around Round 9 everytime. One of us, will get a "connection interruption" error, and soon after the game crashes. Very rarely does any other error message popup, but out of the 10times we crashed , there was one error message which i was able to capture.

I wish i had a hint of what it might be, i thought maybe an old corrupt common.ff, but i deleted it and had Steam authenticate and replace the file. Restarted game and in the begginning of round 10, it looks like theres lag, then freezes and crashes. Doesnt look like it has anything to do with anything to do with weapons, perks, or where you are on the map. It seems its related to round 9 or 10.

Awesome map, but it crashed twice on us in the middle of playing it. First when we tried to access the elevator and the 2nd time just randomly in the middle of a round (8?). Would love to try it again, but can't record it if it keeps crashing. Keep up the good work.

Finally was able to beat the map in the updated version, and I got to say this map is amazing.

The weapons are great, the easter egg is amazing(the button step is kind of annoying though), the environment and everything is perfect. The characters and voices are 10/10. I knew once I loaded up the map and samantha started talking, I knew it would be a fun map.

Hope to see more from you in the future! Definitely will be playing this over and over again.

The 2 guys (GerardS0406, Donutstix) who never beat a map before, beat Dixmor Asylum with having no ammo for 5 minutes and only 500 points. It was crazy but somehow, someway we beat it. And no, we didn't have no ammo on early rounds it was round 10 or 11. It was wild knifing and luckily got a max ammo! What a ride.

I think it was a great map with a bunch of features that everyone should love! The Ray Gun Mark II after doing the button thing really helped us pull it all through.

I'm sorry, but it made the entire thing unplayable for me and a friend. We went through every combination possible and it STILL didn't work after getting 6 presses in. And yes, we tried every single possible button but it didn't work. We couldn't get pass this and I honestly can't play it because of this reason. The map looked good, but that just ruined it.

Thanks alot for making this map! Its a very well made map, but there is one huge problem, you can walk straight through the soul boxes, and you don't have to shoot the teddy bears to get down into the final part of the map, which can completely ruin the map, as in this video we dropped down into this area, and obviously we were stuck, so maybe make it so, if you drop down there, without doing the teddy bears or the soul chests, then you can get back up by a ladder maybe? then when you do the easter egg and teddy bears, the ladder dissapears, apart from that, this map seems very fun, also in the video, i find a way to glitch outside the map, which could easily be fixed, this is around 10:30 in the video. I had loads of fun playing the map. It's like a map treyarch made, it's made so nice. I was a bit curious about that was the power. I just got an indicator and pressed it. The Executioner was pretty bad and the Five Seven... well, it was weird because sometimes it seemed it did more damage than other times.

The map itself was made okay, but the small room with the soulbox is WAY too small. When the box opens you see nothing anymore and you can't train even a bit.

I had fun and definitely going to play this map again!

I found a glitch and it's a major one if you are unfortunate enough to get into it. I was on round 15 and had the button sequence completed and was trying to finish the soul boxes. I was down stairs and was trying to race to get up stairs during the start of a round. I paid the 500 points for the elevator and got trapped on the right corner of it and couldn't move at all. I tried jumping, running out, and got downed and nothing worked. To say the least I was pretty pissed cuz I was doing so good and came into this horrible glitch. I don't think it is a major one to worry about unless more ppl get into it quite often.
