Gold Station

DESCRIPTION
Gold Station is a satellite Atlas Laboratory operating on the fringes of civilization; within a thick forest. When communications with the station cease, it is evident there has been some sort of disaster, of scale unknown. Investigate the source of the issue and do what you can to remedy it.

STATUS:95% Mapped! Modding will begin mid-May
FEATURES

- Fully custom weapons [I have a decent amount, but if provided newer ones I will use those instead]
- Harry's Perks
- Interactive Environment: In many places around the map are interactive panels/buttons/etc that all control small, sometimes helpful events. It will pay to test them out and discover their threats and rewards.
- Large-scale Campaign-style Easter Egg
- EXO Suits: Including both double jump and EXO Kick
- Orbital Care Packages: Get a free perk, weapon, powerup, or maybe some points!
- Boss Zombie [Contact me if you can help with this]


Some more information: For this map I'm trying to keep it dark and anxious, yet also incorporate the neon you see in the screenshots. I aim to make a map that is a challenge, not just a train-fest full of buildables. This will be my first release so I really appreciate feedback from all of you. I have some elaborate ideas id like to incorporate however I am limited by my knowledge of the mod tools and will not be able to implement certain features without help. My main goals here are to put forth a map that 1) looks good 2) presents a challenge and 3) runs smoothly.

Is this based on the Advanced Warfare timeline or your own timeline? Because Jonathan Irons was only born in 1996 so therefore Atlas Corporation wouldn't even exist yet, let alone in 1986  :please:

We would love to do the EXO suits, but our access to advance warfare assets are very limited. We do have the script from Croma's map if he would let us use it but as of now we don not have the player models/EXO models.

yes i thought that too but some of the weapons seem to blend fine,but of course not every gun has that feel so we will be sure not to use a lot of them.


We also have decided to bring you a trailer so that you can get a taste of whats coming to you , we should release it very soon if everything goes as planned  ;).

responding to your question, yes thats true we actually did do our homework and decided that the only way we'd be able to make this work is if we twisted the story line a bit. But if i told you that'd ruin the excitment for wanting to play the map =P,but don't worry,i believe we might have some explanation for this later down the line.

The lighting turns me on, most maps nowadays don't have proper lighting and it looks like yours is coming along real nice.

This looks amazing, but it would be nice to not include all the BO1 weapons, a few of them would fit the theme, like the thundergun, M16, M14 etc, but some guns just wouldn't suit this map IMO.
Anyway, can't wait to see the final result, as it looks liek a really fun map.

This map looks VERY interesting!  :accepted: Are there going to be exo abilities? More importantly, are there going to be any AW guns? I know this takes place in the 1980's, but there could be prototyping, per se. Not bashing, I'm just curious. It looks great so far!

well the best way to answer that would be to say that we have considered bringing in aw stuff the issue is we are limited with what we can take from that game at the moment, so at the moment its hard to say but im sure we will compromise with something.

i have a question, I havent played Exo Zombies before, apart from some guys map on waw, but anyway, i think that the origins and MOB OF THE DEAD weapons from BOII would fit, well most of them, uhm some waw weapons, and some if not all bo1 weapons, i really think 99 percent of the bo1 weapons from the campaign would go great with this :)

no need to worry we have plenty of guns being added and we are working on exo themed stuff but its dificult given the engines limits and our lack of helpers so we may throw in one or two aw guns since like we stated earlier we are limited =P but we willl try thanks for your feedback, can;t wait for you guys to play it!

Loving the destructable glass areas that allow other routes around, and the variety of weapons is awesome.
Just a suggestion, you should re-skin the guns to be spec-ops black since it's a secret base, but also i noticed some of the guns have wrong shell ejects (FAL had pistol shell eject).
anyway, can't wait to see more.

Do you mean spec map specific? As to the shell ejects, having not ported the weapons myself i can see what I can do.

Yeah, but if the guns already a dark colour (like the MP7) then you should leave it, but it would be cool since it's a secret base and you send in the special forces to deal with it (and thy would have a stealth camo on their fgun, hence the black camo.

The map looks great. Am really liking what I am seeing in it. You 2 should do more maps. I think you should leave the spectre and hk21 in it. they would fit the theme of the map. Although, i wish there were a way to get an hk21e in custom zmbs. Oh well

Most people just take the ejects off entirely, cut down on FX. Up to you, pretty easy to change in the weapon files

either delete or pick a more suitable one

If you view it in the UGX weapon editor things will become more clear

There are a few fx you can customize, like muzzleflash, world view muzzle flash, shell eject, and a couple of others

If you need help with your weapons i have a ton of BO2 ones done already, hit me up if you want a hand

I never have the ejects on my weapons. I just dont see the point in them.

Essentially, our storyline asserts that Atlas existed before Irons. You play as part of the team sent back in time to contain the undead out break at its onset. This way, many things could have been brought along on the journey through time. One of these may be EXO suits :)

im not sure we still have quite a bit of work to do,who knows our assets and layour have been very well expanded and redone some areas dont even look the same. they look better! so im not sure maybe a few months to the ned of 2015

We're working hard, but we've still got some more basic mapping to do. Well most likely also detail to a degree before we release a beta. We're about 60% done with basic mapping and detailing and have clocked about a month or so of working time so far. I expect the back end to take about as long, so tentatively sometime mid April?

I checked the bak file first and then opened both the bak and the map file in notepad and noticed that halfway through the file, all of the text is turned to [nul] symbols, I assumed this could not be fixed. I restored my computer to last week to no avail. If anyone knows of a fix for this, please let me know. Is it worth posting?

I think that might be unfixable unfortunately, I had that before on my map, and had to redo it from my latest backup (which was like 3 weeks old :poker:) Mine happened because by some freak of chance I got a powercut in the few seconds it takes to save the map in Radiant.:facepalm:


I figured as much. It is a dark day in the kingdom, however this gives us the opportunity to clean up the map design and use our space more efficiently.

I'm expecting to devote more of my free time personally and it just so happens that knightwing is on his spring break. We'll be beach to where we were in no time :)

I am aware of the bak file, and that was my first option for recovery. However, the bak file was corrupted in the same fashion.

rolling back will not change the state of these files. You did nothing wrong, it doesnt do what the guy described

It rolls back stuff for windows that are saved at certain intervals. It does not restore files to a earlier point in time

If you managed to corrupt the map, AND its back up though, I would seriously check my PC

Isn't the .bak file automatically created when you save though? Hence, if you have a corrupted save, the .bak is corrupted also?

no its created every 5 minutes while radiant is open

so if you suddenly save and close, the bak will still be 5 minutes prior to that

in other words, the Bak will always be in a state that was last open and "working" in radiant, and therefore should never be corrupt as it would crash radiant first before ever creating this back up

As stated, the weapons in the preview are not indicative of the full map. The only weapon common to the two will be the Hammond. As for the barriers, these are not used in the actual map at all, they were just a simple add in. In fact, there is a possibility that the full map will feature no barriers.

We weren't initially planning to release this, but in the process of creating it for the actual map, we realized that with five or ten extra minutes of work we could make it its own little game, just for fun mostly.

I think you should add barriers, only like 5 or so. And put a few risers in the spots where you can rape-train so that it isn't easy.

The main reason for this is because of the included image files. Because almost all of the models and the textures used are custom, there ends up being quite a few of these. In addition when making the small map I opted against going through and deleting images I wasn't using simply because I figured the time would be better used on the actual map.

If you view it immediatly after uploading, itll be locked at 320p and give that link and it wont have a thumbnail

When its finished whatever checks they are doing at that point, its then given a proper url and the higher qualities become available and it will have a randomly chosen thumbnail

i know this might sound really dumb. But, in a later version (if possible) you should add a leveling up system which allows you to start with different weapons,perks,maybe the exo suit, rare weapon on accessible through rank. Maybe only having a certain rank be able to access a room (lol sounds tough). Again these are only suggestions which could increase game play and popularity of your map. Ok so just a quick little update for you guys , Sedozz has been working really hard altough I wasn't able to help him for a while ,you'll be glad to know we are back on track me and him are going to review the map this weekend . Talk about what still needs editing and test the map for bugs etc . Once done with all that we will be one step closer to publishing . I've seen Sedozz setup some awesome stuff   :troll:

Not quite sure what you're asking  ???

The Easter Egg is not going to simply a matter of shooting 3 teddy bears and paying 100,000 points or something. The current draft involves map-altering events, hidden areas, tons of good stuff. Some parts are frantic and can end in death. Hopefully all of you guys will welcome the challenge but I'm doing my best to keep it manageable yet difficult. I've also got several ideas as to the reward(s) given to the players upon completion of it.

Nope.

This is an Easter Egg, not a mandatory objective. To me, an Easter Egg is a secret that people have to find or discover; a bonus to the map as opposed to necessary part of the gameplay. PAP will not require convoluted tasks to open but PAP may not be the strongest weapon upgrade available.

I'm going to leave the perk machines all accessible through gameplay without the Easter egg. Perk slots may be an option for a reward. Perhaps a wunderfizz would be a part of the reward for finishing the egg or perhaps it could be given at an intermediate step. Thanks for the ideas!

Yeah its strange to me that more don't use it as a reward. That most likely be a part of it but I want to make sure the Egg is REALLY worth doing  :D

Thats because they feel a "END GAME" would be better, and they may have all the perks in the game without a limit
