Title: can\'t use profiles in world at war!

a while ago I formatted my pc and because it gets stuck while installing the game I just copied it from windows.old (might be relevant) now every time I load the game this I get stuck in this loop:

also I formatted my pc in the summer and I somehow fixed it but forgot how

Your computer doesn't have the registry key for World at War. You need to install the game via the CD to get the key.

it gets stuck at "updating component registration" when I install
