I don't know how many elite mappers there is, so I don't know what making it elite only would do in the amount of rep given. I say it's worth a shot to make beta rep community\elite mappers only.

is the list of beta testers visible to the other beta testers? and if so could you make it so you can see their waw name so that you can test with the others?No, because it is possible the mapper would want to keep his list private. You can ask the mapper for a list of the participants (he can just copy/paste the listbox after clicking Select All), or if he uses the Send PM to Selected button you will get a PM with 14 other testers shown in the recipients line.
I got a suggestion. The mapper could request the user to convice him why he should add the user as a beta tester. Clicking request beta access button would make a text box to pop up.Sending their own PM to the mapper after applying to the beta would be sufficient I think.

Progress update: The system is about 95% done and should be implemented at some point tomorrow if all goes according to plan.
