Title: [WIP] Origins 1922. Yes I am back

Yes I am back, working slowly but working , I'll update soon.



Origins Nov, 1922

Afew years after the crew have their first encounter with the undead they come back to try and find out what started the outbreak. The robots have fallen, the generators powered down, tank broke down, but some things remained....

Some thing very nice thanks to Trem for scripting the Wunderfizz, Sajeone for anims, and my testing.

don't worrie I will be detailing the age in towards the end of mapping, as well as textures being changed.

I think the hardest part is going to be the detail ... might take me quite sometime to finish this but I want it to be as close as possible to the same layout/detail. its going to be set about 10 years later. EE will be very diff. and take a lot of help to make this work but I have a grand img in my head that I hope works out.

note that when I finish the spawn room I might release it as a teaser type of thing.

If it's going to be set 10 years later, then it should be different than exact layout. WWI will have been over for well... 10 years. The area will be different. It won't be war torn and barren. Foliage will have grown back. The trenches filled in and plowed over by farmers. I think if you're going to make it 10 years in the future, make it look like the Allied Powers came back and started digging it up. Maybe a farmer was plowing the field over the old excavation site and found a piece of Element 115. Word traveled and eventually made it to Allied powers so they began digging up the trenches of the excavation site.
Maybe not all of the trenches are completely dug out so you can actually get up and out of the trenches to a new area such as a the camp for the dig team, or the farmer's barn.
I'm just throwing out some ideas. I don't like remakes that are exact same layout and what not. First, I think it's uncreative and second I think if you're going to remake a map, then add your own bits to it to be different. Cuz if I want the exact same layout as origins, I would play origins. Just my opinion though.

the excavation site at 27 should look like no one cares about it anymore, like its just too much material to move so lets just let it get overgrown

10 years. 100 years. It doesn't matter. All of WWI is buried out there under farmer's fields to this day. I think it would be much cooler to revisit the area in the future of when origins takes place as a team digs it up once more to find out the secrets of the trenches.
The thing about remakes is they lack creativity. You're just copying someone else entirely. But if you just remake certain elements of the map, then add your own stuff (dig team's base camp, farmer's barn). It will make it so much better.
20th century history, especially surrounding the major wars, was one of my favorite things to study for years when I was younger. I'd be happy to help with this project in any way that I can if you choose the revisit in the future route.

Wow... I am impressed! I have been playing a LOT of Origins lately and I think it looks very like it indeed. Are you planning on making the whole map? I am not sure if it will be possible, but I am interested to see the spin you put on it.

Have to say I was dubious about this idea, not a fan of remakes, but your new pics are very impressive! But like Jei said, it doesn't look futuristic enough, it looks older than Origins in fact, I'd suggest changing the WAW textures for something more appropriate  :)

Thx Don't worry it won't be cancelled abandoned I definitely don't plan on kill myself anytime soon.lol For the Textures yes the are all going to be changed later on and i will make the whole map. But yeah as i said in the op this is very early in dev. Will take quite some time and i have two others that will be working on this with me in the near future.

well the textures are going to change.

just about done with the spawn area, I need to add in the 4 spawners, a few more lights, pathnodes, the box, set up the weapons for the map and change up the textures.... then I might release the spawn room as a teaser  ;D

I plan on it. I  think the outside will be easier but the church and workshop will be just as much of a pain lol

Iv been working on my sounds (all guns have firing sound right now just need to add notetracks to do reloads) and menu's (pic in OP) the last day I think its time to map again

it seems to be difficult to get on any map bar Buried, but Origins, if anyone does get it, doesnt normally happen till 20+

Also Buried is the only map where everyone can get it, on all other maps only one is allowed, but it does seem like it's extra specially rare on Origins tbh, but seeing as the Boomhilda is basically a single shot version of it I guess it makes up for it  :)

No an update never affected it, its been like that ever since Origins came out for me, i've probably had the Mark 2 at most 10 times on it (and i've played it way more than that), while i know it is random, it definitely does have a lower box config for it than other maps, maybe because of the staffs and the Boomhilda but like playing on Buried, I think of the Mark 2 in my head and i get it out the box so easily

Yes and i somewhat understand why it has those rules of how obtaining it but im not a fan of the Boomhilda because of its single shot capability - some prefer that, i like the triple fire ability of the Mark 2 - more likely to save your life (and also everyone can get it on your map Stevie i hope? I've completely lost interest in the Ray Gun (1) now, I never take it and its hard to realize that the Mark 2 isnt on the BO1 maps, would be so awesome if it was)

lol I hear ya man. one thing I did notice is when they (3arc) did the first update for all maps being able to get the mk2 in the box I would get it in 3-5 pulls then there was a random update the fixed glitches like getting on the robot foot and getting out of the map. right after that update I could waste 25000 and still not get it
I like the Bommhilda but prefer the MK2 just because it looks sexy lol

As for Origins, Randoms seem to get it often enough though they do spam the box, no worries considering never try for high rounds in public games

Aha, well I won't deny it is one of my favourite WWs and to me is one of the few redeemable features of BO2 zombies. They made it common on Buried and for everyone to get because that was its debut map and seeing as we paid for the gun in DLC, they wanted us all to try it otherwise we'd be pissed if only guy could get but no doubt it makes buried incredibly easy which is probs why it is limited to one on all other maps, but i dont think it should be hard to get as it is in Origins. And back to you DB, i find the Mark 2 pretty easy to get on MOTD and Green Run, Die Rise and Origins though it is interesting.

Is all good, gun is WAY better than the original and can carry you far if used efficiently [A TranZit game I did recently I kept it unupgraded until the end of Round 60, headshot bonus FTW!]

As for rarity, I agree on Die Rise it can be a nightmare to acquire and that Treyarch made it prevalent in Buried to promote the DLC but it made an already easy map child's play

I'd imagine somewhere in the code there's a section to adjust the frequency of box weapons appearing - pity on the maps without a reliable WW [Green Run & Nuketown mainly] it seems the frequency was set a little low

As for the Custom scene, unless a map has a lot going on and a lot of replay value it would be ill-advised to make such a potent device a chore to acquire.
Having it as an EE reward is a good idea so you're not rinsing the box and your interest is maintained until the climax by which time you would've hopefully seen and done it all and can simply unload on the undead :D

All that aside, this is a map I am really looking forward to and will happily wait as long as it takes - slow and steady wins the race :)

yes there is a box config for weapons from 0 to 10 i believe, the mark 2 on most maps must be 0.5, and i do agree on green run and nuketown i play those maps now there is a WW on them, but its not difficult for me to get it on dem maps but on the contrary i just played nuketown 20 rounds and i never got it so im assuming not everyone had buried

Ya in the code you put in mapname.gsc you just dont put in the dd part of cg_setlaser or what ever it is.
as for stamin it is in the map i wassaying its not broken its what staimin is supossed to be.

He's been working very hard to get the starting room to look exactly like it does in BO2, so that's the area that has the most progress right now - and as far as I know he plans to get the entire map as close as possible to BO2 until he hits limits.

This is something I have always wondered myself to be honest. Let's face it... the size and detail of Origins has notoriously made it the most broken map in zombie history, and I do wonder how it could transfer over to WaW.

That being said, the map looks very good and if limits are reached I am sure a smaller portion could be made with other areas now blocked off. Kind of like Cell Block (MotD) on Grief... just a smaller portion of a larger map could still be nice.

Either way, great work Rambo. Look forward to more updates.

The maps has a ton of issues present that could be put down to the limitations of the engine and the size of the map in question, though some could be down to bad programming, I am not 100% on the reasons but either way the map is very broken.

Parts glitch out and cannot be picked up, Staffs disappearing out of the game completely, Panzers spawning in and locking the game down completely, invicible panzers, zombies derping out, giants kicking players out of the map completely, Tank killing players on 3 bars or less (I know that one is a death barrier put in due to stinky, smelly glitchers), zombies randomly derping out around the map.

There is more too. Dying on a solo game while walking around with a shield in front of you because you clipped some random death barrier poking out of a tank path or stairwell, zombies running through charged staff shots and refusing to die, staff shots not firing as they should, graphical and sound glitches in abundances, fire staff causing the game to crash after round 60, air strikes and monkey bombs not working in certain areas of the map, tank killing players at the top of the church when pulling in after a journey from tank station, elemental punches not working despite making contact...

There is even more issues but they are the main ones I can think of off the top of my head. I know the majority could be down to programming, I'm not sure but the sheer size of the map would suggest the errors are more present on this particular map due to it maybe hitting limitations though I am cannot say for sure seeing as I am not overly familiar with Radiant outside of the basics.

I play a lot of Origins though... pretty much daily to be honest and if you play the map a lot you will see these issues frequently and it definitely makes it the most broken map to date.

This map is looking great and all but dont you think it would be better if the map was a more up to date version of the origins site like maybe 1960, 2000 or 2025+. The spawn area the underground chamber areas would look exactly like Orgins because it was buried under for all that time but the rest of the map would have greenery, trees, buildings factories etc. It could be that a company was drilling for oil or excavating for some reason and the found the old site and therefore got infected.

The out lines of some trenches might still be visible while others are completely buried. Overall the map will have alot of recognizable land marks from origins but it will have been affected heavily by time. The church area can be repaired people and it will be completely modernized.

This will make the map much more enjoyable and allow you to customize all parts. If it looks the same most people would just say why dont I just play origins and people will criticize any imperfections in the map.

Plus Orgins was not a very popular map in the first place because it was so gray and dull and lacked in color (except for the crazy place).

I wouldn't go that far. Based on the numbers, Origins is the most popular map on Black Ops 2. I see on average 4-9k people on that map. Definitely my favourite for solo.

Lets not forget the occasional orange unrendered model/texture issues on PS3. As to why they never bothered to fix that is beyond me.

I don't know about Xbox but Green Run's "Town" map is MUCH more popular than Origins by far.

Agreed. The storyline that went along side the map was garbage, and the end sequence tragic, but take all that away and the map is alot of fun... on solo at least. When played on co-op there is a lot of issues with the map.

EE is a bit tedious but overall it is a very good map.

That was the point in origins to be dull in color because the map was supposed feel like a more darker map. I mean what do you expect the church to be purple and have flying monkeys shitting out rainbows . It is WW I for Christ  it is not suppose to have pretty colors. Also it is diesel punked themed. So the machine will be darker colors.

Also this isn't saying it was all a game. It shows that zombies is a time loop with one main branch that brakes off in to other branches. Such as mob of the dead is it's own time loop. Also a branch off the main story line. Proof of this is when eddy said to Sam i wish the heroes in our story were real. She said here father has a plan for that referencing to the recreation of the zombies and restart of the time line. Also Sam wasn't born in 1918 that is why maxis didn't know Sam was his daughter and didn't know her. Also Samantha aka Sam when Richthofen refuses to help here in in-game quotes. She  say "This has gone on longer than you have imagined". Referencing to  the other events of other maps in the past. Also Treyarch even said this is the begin and end of the story. So it is not saying go f*ck yourselves. It is saying that this is the beginning of the end of zombies. :D

I am trying to recreation the camo the best I can but there is no dds/ IMG file for the camo I don't understand what they did but the file just doesn't exist ...... I'm trying to use the weaponized 115 from mp but its not coming out right :( so un sure on that right now but  the map will have all the same weapons ... Maybe some special ones he he

as for the camo i think you just can get it to glow by being a non-lit material cause there isnt parallax occlusion mapping in waw. and i think thats how they achieved to make it being "3d"

It took me 15 working hours from start to finish, so no it wasn't quick - yes it is still in beta stages since I expect there will be bugs to find. So far no one has reported any.

The mapper does not get any notifications from people who request beta access - that's the entire point of this system. Please read the discussion topic for more information.

So I feel like I should do some "Dev. Logs" like others  ::) I'll prob. Do this once every 2 weeks. Weather it's mapping or mod fixes, bugs or just general updates.

Here's what I've done over the past 2 weeks.

★Weapons
  - updated the AK74u model and anims with the black ops 2 versions. So there's no Black Ops 1 anything anymore. :P
  - fixed a issue with the MP7, M27, DSR,  Skorpion EVO, and Ballista upgraded models.
  - converted all the sprint_in, out, and loop anims from BO2 for each gun.
  - used something that fell from the sky to set all the weapon file stats to there EXACT BO2 counterparts.
  - set all the weapon muzzle flashes to the standardized effects for saving on fx room. 
  - started to add BO2 sounds to the guns about half way threw that.

★Mapping
  - set up all the zones in the mapped area's.
  - finished up the tank station and started on the tank path around the back .... (I hate patches)
  - placed the structs for risers and the crusader zombies in their proper places. ( Thanks to something else that fell from the sky. ;)
  - started to mess with the animated model for the generator's piston and fluid... Not having fun with that lol.
I think that's all.

Yeah he can't post any weaponfiles but he could post the stats in a CSV file or something if he wanted to.

Oh nice, I haven't played that map in Black Ops II, I didn't even bought the game because it is pretty shitty. This was the only map I liked but I wasn't going to buy the game and DLC just for this map.

Though just one thing to say, Why would you make it play like 10 years after there first encounter? Why not 100 years?  :poker:

I think it would definitely look better. Fresh grass everywhere, the whole bunker is clean, you have less rubble. Etc.
Or just put a crap load of grass everywhere nice and green with the sun high in the sky. I doubt someone would clean all that stuff up from the first time but then at least grass would take over. Just a though. I know your already far into it. :D

well yes you can get 5 if you're going to be able to get double tap for free but its going to be set up just like origins on black ops 2 there will be dig sites with the ability to obtain the golden shovel and then you can get the free perk slots to buy more perks just like origins

i rout they have hundreds but the got a lot more than mappers got plus the have a separate team of people for scripting so the can map and script alongside each other so thou don't have to worry about both

Treyarch has a team for everything (gun modelling, animating, making the map, making scripts, making sounds etc) while mappers has to do everything themselves.

(even only making a map takes longer since you have to place every pathnode correctly every spawn every wall weapon etc and to make it correctly it takes obviously longer).

Yeh, wondering how a multi-billion dollar franchise with 100's of experienced employees working to strict deadlines can manage to make maps faster than amateur guys who make maps during their spare time, often single handedly, for no profit at all is a tough one to get your head around I guess...

The lag is because your pc is not good enough to run it. Project viking has very good performance considering the amount of features it has i get no framerate issues, compared to Halloween town which i have to run at 200fps for it to look smooth

it wont be lag, its framerate issues, and if you put WAW on safe mode, PV should run fine it does for me

Rambo, i can't say this any other way but this map looks amazing, the detail, the layout, the weaponry, the EE, the sounds and the animations, its perfect, just like treyarch has given birth to a new member, if it wasnt for UGX i would have thought this was the real thing, keep up the AMAZING work and release the map only when you're ready.  mappingI'm happy to report that I am mapping I know its been awhile but the Christmas map sucked the life from me and it sucked ....  :-[ to the new guy, hello welcome to UGX and I'm hoping the map on take more than 6 more months this is a daunting task and I am facepalming myself everyday for taking this on. But I love the map and wanted to do it. :)

AokMikey is the new lead scripter and is doing a great job at fixing and inproving Treyarchs fails.

Ah, after a break for rambo to finish off his Christmas map it looks like it is back to work for me and rambo. Rambo as we all know will be working on the map and for me i will be working on the systems behind the map. A lot is planned. Some things I can say somethings not. Because I like you lot here is a small list of the systems I will be doing and some of the systems i will be fixing from what 3arc fucked up.

-- new systems
- Dig sites
- amazingly alike BO2 generator systems
- Good soul boxes
- reward systems
- custom random box to be almost identical to cod BO2 box
- buildables
-- LOTS MORE :)

-- systems redone.
- all box scripts
- power ups
- all perks including my own BO1 and BO2 perks
- and some more secret little things :)

A lot of work for me and rambo has a lot of mapping to do. :)

not your fault, but i cant really say i'm very pleased about this. There's a reason i give those scripts only to a few people, because i havent even released my own map yet ( that's also has most of these scritps ). Hell, most of them arent even completely done yet. I've made that stuff from scratch and that took me long enough, i didn't send them over to be rewritten by somebody else with name my somewhere in the credits list..
I took a look at your channel and see you def know your way around scripting, but imo it's not cool to get "some other guy" to just redo everything i already did without even letting me know, and then to say you're gonna use my scripts as a reference as if that makes it somehow better for me, and that i should be grateful or something?

Dont get me wrong, i'm pretty much Always prepared to help out people and any questions you would have asked me about it i would have answered, but the fact i need to find out here my stuff is being recycled, i dunno.... Also dunno what you mean with 'use some of your code as reference' cause that can go a lot of ways, but the least thing you guys could have done is just send me a pm or hit me up on Skype..

ILS. Lets go home 3.1, 2596 pathnodes, which is less than what was in the release 3.0, I have been deleting them as I test scripts in it.

Only disconnected path error I ever got was when I was splitting doors to open away from each other, creating too many disconnected paths by increasing my blockers.

That actually looks pretty cool :o
I hope it can have a different color for each packapunch ( LMGs have red ARs have Green, Wonderweapons have a changing color unless thats over the limit)

lol, "Ice Staff" - and I think it is, but cant confirm

there were 4, and each had a upgrade version Fire, Ice (which is listed in the files as water?), lightning and wind (which is listed in the game files as air)

Some maps already have the staffs. Awesome Pieman is the genius behind them I believe :)

Message for everyone else:
This is still on from what I know. Rambo will tell you if the project is discontinued. Although I know this is a personal challenge for Rambo to get completed. As the coder behind this map I am still slowly working on the features and special things for when it is needed. Just continue to be patient as you all have been doing so well and the map will be out soon after rambo and everyone else helping on this project has finished their parts ands it been tested :) Updates will appear again I would guess once Rambo is ready to start work on this again.

Afew years after the crew have their first encounter with the undead they come back to try and find out what started the outbreak. The robots have fallen, the generators powered down, tank broke down, but some things remained....

ive ported a ton of origins stuff if you wanna use it dude

I can and for two reasons infact

number one of course being that it sucked ( to me at least )

but number 2 being, i could never port it right lol. When i tried, kept getting errors with the weaponfile? Was a proper weird one

The weaponfile was difficult. I had it for a bit, but then I deleted it because I got tired of messing with it.

These aren't problems; the Mod is still in development, it's hard to work on a mod when people are criticizing stuff before it's released.

Like Hitman said there are ways to get the sounds from FF and sabs, IWDs, etc.

Rambo just asked me to lock this but I see it's already locked for other reasons so that works. Rambo wanted me to let everyone know that his dad was in a really serious motorcycle accident and he won't be able to continue work on this map for a month or two (at least) until he's done taking care of his dad.
