Title: [User Tutorial] Custom HUD
Post by: JR-Imagine on March 22, 2014, 06:12:43 pm
I decided I would release my custom HUD I made for Rise (which was based of MotD's hud, using MotD's hud images), below are the instructions on how to install it.

To install this custom HUD to your map all you have to do is drag and drop the files inside "Custom HUD.zip" inside your map's mod folder (ex: "root/mods/custom_hud") and add these lines to your mod.csv in launcher:
Code Snippet
Plaintext
// Materials
material,motd_hud_dpad
material,motd_hud_dpad_bar
// Menufile
menufile,ui/hud.menu

That's all!

What the HUD looks like:

nice jr. I have been wanting this forever now. When i added it to my mods folder and add that line in mod.csv it says ERROR: Couldn't find material 'motd_hud_dpad_bar' so both that and  the normal dpad, and it comes up as a checkerboard in game. I looked in the folder and could not find those 2 materials.

I'm an idiot, I forgot the game only loads ff's with specific names, fixing it. ;)
Edit: Just realised that Materials and Material Properties don't actually contain any content from Activision, they only reference to them, so I can just upload those raw files...
Edit 2: Fixed version up, sorry for the inconvenience.

Try extracting the zip and the images folder from z_hud.iwd to root/raw. (Make a backup of root/raw/ui/hud.menu first!)
Launcher won't compile materials unless the iwi file is in root/raw/images, my mistake, I'll be fixing the tutorial whenever I find the time.

All I did to get it to work is put hud.menu in root/raw/ui. Make sure you backup the raw hud.menu somewhere.

Is it possible to edit your files to create our own custom HUD because I'm not sure how to do it myself?

Forgot to post here why it doesn't work.

If there is no space after a comment it ignores the next line.

Not many people know about this bug therefore no one thinks about it.

Example

Code Snippet
Plaintext
//Materials <----- NO SPACE AFTER COMMENT ***BUG STARTS***
material,motd_hud_dpad <---- LINE IGNORED
material,motd_hud_dpad_bar
//Menufile <----- NO SPACE AFTER COMMENT ***BUG STARTS***
menufile,ui/hud.menu <---- LINE IGNORED

so it should be this

Code Snippet
Plaintext
// Materials
material,motd_hud_dpad
material,motd_hud_dpad_bar
// Menufile
menufile,ui/hud.menu

Seems like a converter has been used instead of the asset manager, I had a similar problem with such a thing.

I recently noticed a glitch when holding a weapon that has a clip size larger than 100. The ammo counter overlaps the spacer.

Adjusting that value moves not just the current clip ammount but also moves the remaining ammo over onto the hud image itself.

Correction, i've been halping him with this. The X value moves the entire ammo counter hud, and the 3rd value actually considers the spacing it seems like, but it makes the gap between the ammo reserve and the spacer bigger aswell, which goes over the MOTD image but can be adjusted, but the gap can be consider to big for some people. I have no idea what the last value does though. haha

Backup the hud.menu in raw/ui and replace it with the new hud.menu.

try editing the images from the download and copy the origin images and then save the image as the original name, then put them back in your raw, and when you do this make sure you replace the images in the rar file: z_hud.iwd aswell.

Even though the tutorial didn't say it, the ui actually needs to be in the raw folder, make sure you backup the original files though. :P
