Title: brushes to xmodel???
Post by: Noahst on September 06, 2017, 11:05:41 pm
ok so i am running into this issue with maximum curves and terrain vertexes. aaand i have all the points that can be combined with outher meshes to form one welded. so i was wondering, is it possible to convert a brussh, terrain, or curve patch into an xmodel format?

I know you can export brushes into Maya and then from there you could import them back into Cod waw using Asset Manager but I don't think you can do that for terrain and curved stuff.

Make backups of your map first incase it crashes when exporting.
Radiant can export brushes, patches and curves from the radiant toolbar in the "Selection" dropdown ... "Maya export". The file it makes is in the codwaw/bin/maya folder and can be dragged into Maya to load.
"Quads", "centimeter", and "merge" options checked when exporting.
//
I would do brushes and patches and curves as separate exports because sometimes it can mess up the file. Once its in maya you need to move the group of brushes or patches back to (0,0,0) then "freeze transformations" "triangulate" "paint verts white" apply material and export as xmodel export.

you can lower your vert count by reducing the subdivisions on most of your patches, if they are flat you might aswell use brushes unless it is absolutely necessary to blend in that scenario. Btw, could you press M in the map file on radiant and post the picture here just for reference?

The mel file is Maya specific. If you need them converted to codwaw and don't have Maya send me a pm.
