Title: (URGENT) Map won't have changes from radiant
Post by: awesomeness1jake on May 27, 2017, 02:13:15 am
I have tried almost everything, don't say I didn't save I have plently of times I just compile it and the changes I made are not even there.
EX if I remove something save then compile it would still be there.
Please help ive been working on this map for so long and don't want to restart

Make sure you did it right.

1 - Save map in radiant.
2 - Check the "Compile" and "Link" boxes when building.
3 - Profit

That should work, no reason why it wouldn't. Only other reason might be that you are running the wrong map somehow? Make sure you have the right one/version selected

Sorry that came out a bit mean but I think the cause of my map not working as there is a error named ERROR: Max verts per brush (512) exceeded

I didn't mean to sound rude either, I had no idea if you knew what you were doing or not so I asked if you were doing it right.

But from the look of it that error would mean that one of your brushes has too many verts/cuts in it. Not sure if there is an easy way to find it but try to look for anything that seems like it has too much then reduce it as much as possible without losing detail

Where would I find the brushes? Like brush models?

Basically everything you level is made of so structural and detail brushes, like a brick wall would be a brush/patch. If those have too many verts then you will get errors. I assume brush models will also be considered the same thing.

A normal brush shouldn't have too many problems but if you have any terrain or curve patches make sure they don't have too many verts

how long did you spend mapping it? if its just a small room its faster to rebuild the idea but even better

Inside radiant, try File-->Check Map for Errors.
File-->Load Error File-->Point File.

It should show you the origin of your problem.

Its pretty normal to the map get no changes inside game if the compile have ANY error, it will end up the compile as soon the error apear probably, so, compile your map, keep watching for errors, and, when you find one, try to fix it, pretty simples.
Hope it helps.  ;)

Try using entity list to track this brush (remember it can include volumes).
Hope it helps.  ;)
