Title: Black ops I Player Voices
Post by: whippytrout on February 12, 2017, 08:44:57 am
So I want to add in Danny Trejo and Michael Englund from BOI Call of the Dead into my Alcatraz map as players. I have all the models but I couldn't find the player sounds using Wraith or other tools. Plus I don't have the time to create the soundalias files for them. So my question to the community is: Does anybody want to help me out? Either telling me how to find the sounds or if they already created the soundalias file, share it with me.

Here is my Alcatraz WIP if you wanna see my work so far: https://ugx-mods.com/forum/index.php/topic,7912.0.html (https://ugx-mods.com/forum/index.php/topic,7912.0.html)

Thanks,

Whippy

I dont have CoTD, but apparently I still have the files, lol. Must have been installed when I got some stuff regarding Radiant. Anywhos, you can find the quotes from here:

No need to create soundalias as well, you can just overwrite them via .iwd since they are streamed sounds. Just need to convert to proper WaW format and put them in correct file structure + with correct names

Ok cool so i found the sounds but I'm still confused on what you said to do with them. It wont let me open the sounds and listen to them. I can't even open them in audacity. What exactly do I have to do to get them in Cod waw? Are they already converted correctly for example in audacity when you set "stereo track to mono" and stuff?

Sorry for all the questions but I've never messed with player vox's before I've only done normal sounds.

Download Tom's BO sound converter tool off of his website, that'll convert the sounds into the format that WaW requires to play audio.

I can't get the sounds to convert. I'm also not sitting here converting 100's of player quotes one at a time and then creating soundalias for them lol. There has to be an easy way.

Use Toms tool, rerun through Audacity if it doesnt play after next steps, add them in correct filestructure and should be done, voila, no need for soundalias setup as they are included already. Example:

Its BO1 example, but should be same as WaW, just with different names. And I did this process with BO3 characters to BO1, one character took one day work and I had to do two of them. Reason why they took long was that I had to take the files using BO2 Sound Studio, which had unnamed files. You have names already, so getting one character working would take few hours about. Surely you have few hours to spare?

So do i put the sounds in the iwd? I renamed them all and put them in raw/sound and they are in the correct directory but it still used the stock voices.

Add them in separate .iwd thats in your mods folder, wont do anything, if they are in raw/sound folder

Well. I went through and renamed all the sounds the correct names. (the same names as the ones in dlc3_vox.csv) I then put those sounds into a new .iwd in my mods/mapname folder. I called it localized_english_iw06.iwd and put the sounds in.
The player quotes just don't play.  :(  Its just quite. I think its because the sounds are all 32bit instead of 16bit. How do I convert them all without doing them one by one? There are 406 sounds, that would take forever to convert in Audacity.

Extract the sounds you want from the iwd's using tom's bo1 sound tools.

make them 32000 khz (you can also make em 48000 but 32000 is the best value to save space)

Then you need to copy  them to sounds_assets/raw/yourfile folder.

Make a soundalias for them.

Then add those to your mod and enable build sounds and then build mod.

If your sounds are converted successfully, you'll find them in raw/sound. You can copy them in your mod's folder and use them.

Edit: And "klite codec pack" download. Open your voices with media player classic.

Hi man,

I see that you get trouble with playing different sounds on that?

I have sometimes also tried to export sounds like that and when I found the files before I have exported I used self 'VLC media player' to listening the sounds not all sounds will work but some of them wel what I know.

I hope that this will help you more out of this ;)

best regards,

So I have all of the sounds and the soundalias. Do I have to open each sound in audacity and export each one? There is no fast way to convert them all? Also what's the difference between streamed and ff sounds in Toms bo1 sound tool?

audacity can import and export multiple sound files

Yea so it turns out my sounds are not 4100Herts so I have to change them all in order for them to work. Is there an easy way to change all 400 sounds to 4100Hz? Maybe some kind of batch process or something?

Ok guys I finally got it working. I just had to open them all up in Audacity and change the Herts to 4100 then export them. I almost gave Audacity a heart attack opening up 400 sounds at one time but it got it. hahaha I then had to click "clear" then "ok" 400 times but I eventually got it. lol
