Title: Der Riese 2.0 (WaW Expansion Mod)

After being inspired by T4M and xSanchez78's amazing Der Riese Mod, I've since spent the past three weeks working on my own expansive reworking of Der Riese, my all-time favorite zombie map. This mod features WWII-era guns and below ONLY, with the exceptions being the Wonder Weapons and the Death Machine. I wanted to keep the vintage feel of the map as close to the original as possible, so no modern-era weapons are making an appearance (plus, I'm a huge sucker for the WWII weapons). With most of the all-new weapons, I made custom Pack-a-Punch camos for their upgraded counterparts by using the original materials. Below you'll find a complete list of weapons, images, perks, changes, additions, and things still left to complete before the mod sees public release. I'm also planning on working on mods of the other three WaW zombie maps, so those'll come soon as well. I'm ALSO hoping to create a mod of Kino Der Toten on Black Ops, one that features all WaW weapons, like how it was originally intended as the fourth WaW zombies DLC map. I'm currently facing some issues with scripting the weapons into the map though, so that'll have to wait for a little bit while I figure that out. Anyways, I hope you enjoy looking at what I have so far!

CHANGES:

- Players now start off with their own hands as a secondary starting weapon (haven't you ever wanted to punch zombies to death? Well now you can!)
- The WAW Colt pistol has been replaced with the BO2 model, and has been given a buff up to 40 damage per shot.
- Springfield has been given much-needed damage and multiplier buffs.
- Boomhilda fires in full-auto as opposed to the BO2 laser-firing variant. I wanted to make it more similar to the real-life M712 variant of the weapon. Plus the scripts for the original version weren't available!
- The G-115 Compressor now fires in three-round bursts. I wanted to make it much more useful, instead of a throwaway weapon with no unique features to it.
- The stock M1 Garand/M-1000 has been trashed in favor of just having the grenade launcher variant.
- The M2 Flamethrower's mobility has been slightly increased.
- Melee delay while holding the M2 Flamethrower/F1W Nitrogen Cooled has been fixed.
- Molotov Cocktail base damage has been increased from 150 to 600.
- Porter's X2 Ray Gun has been given a damage buff in order to increase its usability in later rounds.
- 420 Impeller is given a telescopic sight.
- Power-ups and Teddy Bear uses BO3 models.

TO-DO: (if anybody could possibly help me with these, that would be absolutely amazing!)

EDITS 1/25/17:
- Perks use their Black Ops 2 jingle variants (Quick Revive, Double Tap, and Speed Cola are given a 1.5% pitch increase, Juggernog is given a 1.5% pitch decrease.
- On/off models for Deadshot Daiquiri have been scripted into the map, still have to script the functions of the perk though.
- Off model for Mule Kick has been scripted into the map, still have to script the functions of the perk as well as the on model.
- Hitmarkers have been scripted into the map.
- Each character is given their own unique viewhands as placeholders until I can port over the BO viewhands.
- New loading screens have been made for my 2.0 versions of Nacht, Verrückt, Shi No Numa, and Der Riese. The first three use their BO loading screen, while Der Riese uses the loading screen from The Giant. New loading screen songs are also used as well:

EDIT 1/27/17:
- Replaced Shiv model with standard Kbar Knife model. I'll probably end up using the Shiv for my Verruckt mod later on.
- Replaced Silenced Sten model with the regular Sten model. Again, the Silenced variant will be saved for a different mod.
- I've begun porting over the Sabertooth and the Winter's Howl. Sabertooth still needs sounds, while Winter's Howl needs proper scripts, functionable fx effects, and sounds.
- Added first raise animation for Ray Gun.

EDIT 1/31/17:
- Finally gotten Deadshot Daiquiri, Mule Kick, and Stamin-Up to work properly.
- Demonic Announcer quotes have been lowered to their original pitch.

EDIT 2/2/17:
- Double Tap 2.0 "off" model finally replaces the original model.
- BO Richtofen viewhands succesfully ported.
- Work on Nikolai's and Takeo's viewhands continues.
- Added a second line of opening text under "Near Breslau, Germany", specifying the date to be March of 1946.
- Bonus Points powerup has been added to the mod, but I still have to work on the scripts a little bit.
- I'm also working on porting Amm-O-Matic into the mod. So far, I've been using a placeholder model while I continue working on my own model. Perk still needs functions to be scripted.

EDIT 2/5/17:
- BO Nikolai viewhands successfully ported.
- Bonus Points and Open Fire powerups working, just need HUD icons and announcer quotes.
- Bazooka/Fat Man dropped from mod, will appear in my other mods of the previous three maps.
- Path of Sorrows added to the mod as a rare mystery box item.
- Working on either using the Mob of the Dead, Origins, or Black Ops HUD, still debating over which one to use.
- My Amm-O-Matic model is most likely complete, I'm just having issues porting it to the game. In addition scripting for the perk's functions still has to be completed.
- The DP-28's upgraded name has been changed from "The Dinner Plate" to "Emma's Record Player". This new name is a combination of two nicknames given to the weapon by soldiers during WWII: "Emma" and "Record Player".

EDIT 2/9/17:
- Began working on porting the COD2 weapons over after awhile, I've decided that they'll instead use existing animations instead of trying to make my own. The Grease Gun uses the MP40's animations, minus the empty reload animation. The PPS-42 uses the PPSh-41's animations, as the PPSh itself is using new animations done by Ray1235. The Lee-Enfield and the Bren both use their original animations intended for their COD5 variants, of which are still left buried in the xanim folder. Thank God those were still available. I'm working now on rigging the Luger to the Nambu's animations, but I'm having trouble connecting the right joints to the right meshes. The original sounds have also been ported directly from COD2's files. Work also continues on creating custom PAP camos for the weapons, of which I've so far completed for The Bullet Hose.
- BO2 Round chalks added, thanks to sal24r for the upload.
- Mob of the Dead-styled HUD by JR-Imagine added.
- BO Takeo viewhands added.
- The PAPed version of the Mosin-Nagant, "Natascha", has been renamed to "Dragoon" as a nod to an actual nickname for the gun given by Russian soldiers during WWII.
- BO M2 Flamethrower textures used.
- .357 Magnum's upgraded variant given a buff in damage, range, and ammo capacity.
- BO AK-47 added, thanks to UGX Rorke.

EDIT 2/16/17:
- M1A1 Carbine simply renamed to M1 Carbine, thanks to mxtxm for the clarification!
- Widdershins RC-1 given a buff in reserve ammo capacity, magazine size, damage, and ROF.
- The Widow Maker given a buff in damage, magazine size, ROF, and reserve ammo capacity.
- The Afterburner given a buff in reserve ammo capacity.
- The Penetrator given a buff in reserve ammo capacity, damage, multipliers, and ROF.
- BO Death Machine model, sounds and animations ported over in place of the one from cfgfactory. Still need to figure out how to get the barrel to spin while firing.
- MP40 given its firing sounds from Black Ops.
- Path of Sorrows dropped from mod, will instead appear on my Shi No Numa mod.

EDIT 2/18/17:
- Stakeout added to the mod, now named "Ithaca M37".
- Upgraded Ithaca added to the mod, retaining its "Raid" name.

EDIT 2/20/17:
- Luger and its upgraded variant, The Desert Wolf, are finally completed.
- Lee-Enfield and its upgraded variant, Lee-Ermy, are finally completed.

It looks amazing but you could add bo2 viewhands and some bo2 weapons would be amazing and maybe one or 2 bo3 weapons

Thank you! I'm not planning on adding any futuristic weapons from BO2, only weapons from the WWII era and below. Weapons from BO2 that are featured in the mod include the Mauser C96, M1927, Colt M1911 and the MG08/15, as they're all from the years 1945 and below. I'm also already planning on porting in the Kino Der Toten viewhands.

Here's some suggestions for the mod(if these haven't already been done.)

M1A1 Carbine
-change name to M1 Carbine(the M1A1 version had a wireframe folding stock)
-increase the Widdershins RC-1's magazine cap and reserve ammo cap

BAR
-Increase The Widow Maker's reserve ammo cap

PTRS-41
-Increase The Penetrator's reserve ammo cap

MP40
-Increase The Afterburner's reserve ammo cap

The reason I am making these suggestions is that it doesn't feel right to upgrade a weapon and have it keep pretty much the same amount of reserve ammo. In the case of the M1 Carbine, having it's upgraded version maintain the 15 round magazine is a joke.

Aside from Takeo's, I always thought they were pretty accurate for the most part, but I get what you mean! They're just what I've been so used to over the years, it would feel weird not to use them. Certainly better than all four of them using the same boring US marine hands! Thanks for the comment :)

As for the buffs for the weapons mentioned above: done, done, done, and done! I always hated how insignificant the upgrade was for those weapons! Especially the M1 Carbine, it could've been done so much better.

Great. Other suggestions would be to give weapons attachments when pap. Maybe appeture on m1 carbine and the version of the ptrs that has iron sights. I have only seen the iron sight version on one map a long time ago. It would be cool to see it again.

I was actually thinking of trying to do that, to make a version of the PTRS with iron sights like from the IOS version. Sometimes I really dislike using sniper rifles, so that'd be pretty cool. If you mean weapons, then probably not. Though not technically an attachment, I was thinking of using the akimbo Model 1887's from MW2 for the upgraded version in my mod. Sure, it'd be synched instead of a true dual wield, but that'd be pretty cool! Aside from that, there are the attachments for the BO AK47, the Mauser's ACOG scope, and some others that I can't think of right now that'd be other possible attachments.

Probably not, still wanna stick to the limits of the WWII era. Of course, there are still attachments like dual-mag, and maybe even variable zoom if that's possible. We'll see what happens!

I'm currently working on re-making this mod from scratch, as there are way too many bugs in this first version. Not too difficult actually, most of my time had been spent working on porting weapons and creating script functions, so it shouldn't put me back by that much! Hopefully after gaining more experience with this kind of stuff, my second go at this will yield much better results!

On a semi-unrelated note, I was finally able to get the muzzle flash for Mustang & Sally to work. Well, kind of. The right gun uses the correct flash, but the left one uses the standard pistol flash. Eh, it's as good as it'll get for now!

I think variable zoom is possible if you script the alternate zoom to activate the same way as a grenade launcher. I think is was TMG Christmas that had the QBB-LSW with the bo2 hybrid optic and you would change which sight you were using by hitting te grenade launcher button. There could be an issue if the player were to hold both the imploder and whatever has the variable zoom. Maybe look into making it mandatory for the the player to have the weapon out for them to use the grenade launcher or zoom.

Probably not, but all of the bolt-action rifles have been given a much-needed damage and multiplier buff, otherwise nobody would have any reason to ever use them lol

A new question have for you is, "Will the M1 Garand's damage profile be changed to match the MX Garand from bo3?"
I fun as the rifle grenades are(if you don't blow yourself up) I kind of care more about the performance of the main gun.

I unfortunately can't play BO3 because my laptop isn't powerful enough, so I'm not familiar with the MX Garand variant. From what I'm looking up right now, all of the weapons in BO3 zombies appear to deal higher damage than in previous games. If that really is the case, then if I decide to buff the M1 Garand up to the MX Garand's stats, I'd have to do the same for pretty much every other weapon, so that the buffed M1 Garand isn't dealing more damage than an MG is at a high round.

But aside from that, another buff is that pretty much all upgraded semi-automatic weapons feature no fire cap, the weapon will fire as fast as you can click your mouse. That always annoyed me on the stock maps, I figured that it should have been a no-brainer to add that feature.

I'm also thinking about adding a double PAP, with the re-upgraded weapons using the camo from BO. The hardest part about this is definitely deciding what names to give them. Right now, I'm just giving most of them names of the upgraded weapons from BO3, with a few exceptions of course. Some of them are pretty easy to come up with though (ex. M1927 > Speakeasy > Untouchable; MP40 > The Afterburner > Afterburner 2.0, etc. ). We'll of course see what happens!

I've been working on replacing a bunch of the weapon models with newer, nicer-looking ones from game such as Enemy Front and Battlefield 1, progress is definitely being made, I'm just not making that many updates to keep it as more of a surprise. No spoilers anymore!

Spanning across the mods of all four WaW maps (Kino not included for now), I've listed all of the weapons in the running for appearances, and so far, there are around:

- 10 pistols
- 6 bolt-action rifles
- 8 rifles
- 21 submachine guns
- 6 sniper rifles
- 5 shotguns
- 11 light machine guns
- 3 rocket launchers
- 3 grenade types
- 13 specials
- 8 Wonder Weapons

I'll be trying to create a nice range of variety between the four mods, so that means that a couple weapons might appear in one map, but be absent in another. Part of that may be due to weapon limitations (T4M won't let me have more than 128 weapons for some frustrating reason), but variety is definitely the big key here!

Okay, I can spoil at least one weapon right now, can I? :)

Most of the weapons in the specials category include knives, as well as flamethrowers, rocket launchers, the bowie knife, molotovs, etc. There are a bunch of weapons that'll be included that have never been seen in Call of Duty games before, such as the MP18 seen above. There are some other weapons that I'd love to use, but I have no available animations that fit with them. One of these is the Owen Gun, an Australian SMG produced in 1942. So if I really do wanna use it, then I guess I'll have to start practicing on making my own animations! ;)

Not sure of the exact name of the font, but it's the same one used in Der Berg, taken from the publicly released assets. I might end up changing it to something else though, sonce I don't like how dashes are now invisible (ex. displaying "Amm-O-Matic" as "Amm O Matic").

Another thing to note about the Wonder Weapons is that even though I'm hoping to have 8+ spanned across all four or so mods, I'm still running into trouble with the scripts and fx and whatnot for some of them. Especially the Winter's Howl, I'd love to get that one working properly!

If there's anyone out there reading this thread, wondering whether or not I'm still working on this mod, I definitely still am, I'm just not updating this page that much. Mostly because this forum has been dying for the past few weeks, but also because I don't want to spoil any more than I already have. But yeah, these mods are pretty much all that I work on nowadays. I've finally begun to understand how to mod Black Ops, so my "DLC4" mod of Kino Der Toten is currently underway as well. In addition, I'm also looking to make a mod of Call of the Dead, which'll remove George and replace the four actors with the original crew. In addition as well, I'm also diddling around with a mod of the campaign, which'll make many small fixes and improvements to the story. One small gripe that I always had with the mission "Vendetta" was that the Germans were using the US-built M2 Flamethrower, as opposed to the German-made Flammenwerfer 41. Well not any longer they are!

So yeah, that's just my little update as of now. I'm not exactly sure when I'll be able to declare the mod as "done", but when it's reached a level of which I'm satisfied with, then I'll begin beta testing and prep for release. As specified much earlier, I mentioned how I'm working on mods of all four WaW zombie maps, in addition to Kino Der Toten and Call of the Dead. I'm still debating on whether to release them one at a time, or together as one huge download. It'll probably come down to the latter, but we'll find out when we get there!

No disrespect to the work done so far (I could never do this stuff), but I don't really know why we need everyone working on bringing staves and futuristic pistols into world war 2/Vietnam era :/ I hope you can bring these guns to Moon, Ascension, Five, etc. as well! Also would be cool to see a WW1 gun mod for perish/origins in the very, very distant future ;)

I've been toying around with the idea of mods of other maps, including Ascension and Moon, but I'd probably move more towards using more 60s-era weapons. It kinda ticked me off how Black Ops was a game that took place in the '60s, but featured weapons that hadn't been invented until as late as the mid-90s. Of course, that doesn't rule out the possibility of WWII-era weapons appearing, since many of them were used in the Korean/Vietnam wars (the Thomspon, M1 Garand, Grease Gun, PPSh-41, and the Browning M1919 all come to mind).

I'm planning on creating a new WIP page for my mod project as a whole, since its certainly outgrown just Der Riese at this point!

I'll be releasing this mod pretty soon now in an "as-is" state, as I'm looking to expand my focus primarily towards Black Ops going forward. As this'll be released as a mostly finished mod, there'll be a few bugs that will be fixed for the Black Ops version. The other three mods of the WaW maps won't be coming however, as I'll be saving that for my big Black Ops mod package, which'll include (as of now) six maps (Nacht Der Untoten, Verruckt, Shi No Numa, Der Riese, Kino Der Toten, and Call of the Dead). I'll be making a WIP post for that after this release drops, so be on the lookout for that soon!

Nah, it's not cancelled. I've just been suffering from burnout after having worked on this stuff for six months straight. Plus, I'm also kind of waiting for CoD:WWII to come out, so I can use the weapons featured there for my mods.

There will always be "something else" to wait for, but make sure you don't lose sight of what you have now. kinda has a point there, the world war 2 game wont be out for a while so I suggest just polishing up what you have right now and release it as soon as possible and so later on if you still have the motivation to work on this mod then that will be great. Just don't give up on this mod when its so far in development just to be brought down from the lack of interest, nobody would like that.

It's cut, but you can still access it via console commands ("give all" command for example).

Anyways, this mod is now released, so head over to the mod releases sub-section to download it!

Whenever I load the mod and hit Solo, it switches to the loading screen but in a few seconds, the whole game crashes. What should I do?

taking screenshots on this map crashes my game every single time, any reason/fix for this????? its seriously annoying >:( >:( >:(
