Title: RIP Yoteslaya
Post by: DeathBringerZen on October 23, 2013, 03:58:04 pm
So... it has emerged that Yoteslaya was killed last night after his pickup truck collided with a train. He and his two passengers were killed instantly.

He did so much for the custom scene, and was a joy to watch. My thoughts go out to his family on this day.

RIP Bro. :(

It is very sad news indeed. More information has emerged on it, and it seems that alcohol played it part in this tragedy.

Irregardless of this, the guy was a great member of this community, and earned his legendary status for sure.

RIP Brian. You will be missed.

Like most people, I didn't know Yoteslaya personally, but he still made a big impact on me as a zombie player. I always had a lot of respect for him and appreciated the positivity and awareness he brought to the zombie community. He was a guy who played with great enthusiasm, excitement and passion for what he did. Yote was for sure not boring and no matter what you thought of him I believe he was very good to and for the zombie community.

Favorite memory: My favorite memory of him was when he was about to beat the custom zombie map Waterworks and instead of teleporting near the ending, like he was intending to, the zombies pushed him off the pad and what followed was some of the most intense footage and hilarious commentary ever.

You will be missed, Yote.

Yeah, I figured that's who it was :(

He had a video a couple weeks ago about how he went to jail for DUI with them in the car, makes sense that they were the ones in the car again.

At least it wasn't his kids.

I can't even put into words how i feel about him being gone. I've watched him for about 3 years and if it wasn't for him i wouldn't of know what Custom Zombies was and for that i thank him. If i hadn't watched him i would never of met Saje, Delta, WING3D and Trem who i consider close friends he did alot for me just from him making videos. I remeber sitting having a shity day so i went and watched his videos for 4 hours and laughing my ass off and it cheered me up. I recently spoke to him on Twitter about the mod and just having a laugh with him, he was a top guy  and a funny guy and i will miss Brian alot. I really don't know what to say i'm in shock over the whole thing he helped us out quite alot and did alot for the community as a whole.

Thats how I got here: There was a livestream on Yote's channel entitled "Verruckt with BO1, MW1 and MW2 guns!". Thats how I found TMG. Few weeks later I found UGX by hate posts on TMG. So shortly if not Yote I wouldn't be here.

I'm gobsmacked
My thoughts upon logging on was "WTF?!" and "Are you kidding me?"
Truly heartbreaking
He was such a great personality, so humble and always looking to entertain and give his followers the best he possibly could
He never failed to make me laugh or smile and he'll be sorely missed by all who were lucky to know him, even by proxy of YouTube
Definitely a sad day in the history of YouTube, Zombies and life as a whole
R.I.P. Brian

EDIT: Just rewatched that video, remember when 1st saw it, such an epic finish - classic Yoteslaya

Yeah, I have heard that mate, but seeing as I was banned for being honest about the sub par maps that certain Youtubers were releasing for their own personal gain, I missed it unfortunately.

Still... That site got it's fair share of notoriety thanks to Yote, and for a long term member to say such things is not only a bad mark on the site, but also on the clique group who run it.

For shame. smh

Its not just yote, they pretty much hate any big youtubers like that. They think that every big youtuber is "selfish, and only in it for the money", even though people like yote and ngt helped promote their site

To a point, yes. But from what I've heard its more about him not giving credit to the people who make the maps he "promotes" and or earning money off of what other people make for free than it is him simply playing the maps. mind you, this is what I HEARD, i have no idea if this is true or not.

Personally i have to agree, it isn't right to not give proper credit to people who spend weeks if not months making something for free.

But does that give anyone the right to spit on someones grave? Hell no it doesn't.

Most mappers these days appreciate the fact that Youtubers are playing their maps at all. I doubt ANYONE who had their map feature on his channel was pissed about it, so that is a subject that is down to the mapper themselves.

The people posting these comments are non relevant to the community, as Trem said. They are nobodies in this community. ZM Nutcase and ZM Earth are non mappers, non scripter and pretty much non anything.

Just a couple of tubes who have X amount of posts on a forum who think their post count and reputation makes them something special.

Comments made by BOTH of them are irrelevant. They do NOTHING for this community but then choose to discredit someone who does!?!

It is up to the mapper to decide if they are getting a disservice... not them! They all, as a collective should be ashamed of themselves. I am disgusted by the comments. There is no need for it.

They can feel however they want about Yote, NGT and anyone else who posts custom maps, but to make it public shows just how sad and pathetic those individuals are.

Again... FOR SHAME!

No it isn't, Mappers have absolutely no legal rights regarding custom maps. People like pretending that they actually own the map that they create when they actually don't. In short, mappers only have the right of "assembly", putting together assets that are created by either Treyarch or IW or by the custom community. In no way can a mapper prevent someone from monetizing what they have "assembled".

I have no idea about anyone else, but I know that Earth has made and released a few small custom maps, and from time to time, helps newbies fix issues that they have (though most of the time he just trolls them).

Quote

Again, people have complained about their maps being monetized. Most people don't mind it, but for others it's a big deal. Their right to be angry is as legitimate as any other.

You are entitled to your opinion, but I still think you are wrong. The majority of mappers praise guys like Yote and Spider for showing their maps, so unless you can give examples of people actually being pissed about their work being plagiarized, I am sticking with my opinion.

ZM Earth is a tool as far as I am concerned, and I know I have back up on this one. I have saw him slam individuals for bashing people who slate others for asking for stock perks constantly, only to then slam timelordalex for asking for Mule Kick repeatedly in maps.

How can you defend people asking for stock them slam someone who asks for more than stock!?! It is a Hypocritical view!

Either way, I am done talking about the trash guys who think they run ZM, and the idiots who actually do. My point is that the hierarchy who actually DO run that site allow such filth to be posted on their site, and it is beyond disgusting.

If you feel they are good people, that is fine. I think they trash, and I also think they have proved that point already!

I'm not defending ZM. I agree with you entirely. They shouldn't be doing what they are/have said. However, I don't see why anyone needs to cause more drama than whats already been done.

on the topic of the mule kick: I've been wondering for a long time now if having Black Ops perks in maps is some kind of new "standard" that everyone has to follow, and apparently it is, otherwise people wouldn't be getting in your face about it as if you committed a crime.

Alright maybe they don't, but really why would you want them in your map anyway? they aren't even fully accurate with the originals, and most people don't even bother adding the light FX onto the perk machine to make them looks like the real ones.

Personally, I feel stock map and perks are very boring nowadays and it takes a very special map to pull it off.

I also don't get why people constantly ask for stock perk versions of certain maps when there is nothing stopping them buying only the stock perks on the map. Either way, it does a mapper no harm in adding more perks, and I am sure the majority of custom players would prefer to see more.
