Title: 30 Second Map Reviews
Post by: popcorn897 on September 15, 2013, 03:58:20 am
This is something I have been thinking about for a while so I will just post here.
I want to make video reviews of custom maps in only 30 seconds.
I have made 30 second reviews of games before, and trying to pack information and opinions into the tiny time span makes it pretty interesting.
Maps rather than a game would make it a bit easier and I also have script ideas already written.
But, if someone with a better voice/computer/opinion would like to do it, go ahead, I am a bit apprehensive anyway.

tl;dr Make 30 second map reviews

P.S. If 30 seconds is too short it could be 1 minute or something

Yeah, I think some short and to the point map reviews would be useful. You should do one and post it so that we can get a feel for the idea.

Serve one up brother, I'd love to see one. I'm always down for a review.

Still, a 30 second review? How fast are you going to be talking in order to provide adequate information?

I'm hoping for "this drug has more side effects than being hit by a truck" speed.

Probably a pretty decent speed lol.
Depending on the map/game the script can be short or long.
They average around 110 words.
So about "Your script is 110 words.  We estimate a recording of it would be:

27 seconds, if you average 4 words per second" That speed

This speed can and probably will be applied one day

I played Fallout Assault Center and immediately though "This one!"
Then I died and rage quit really hard. I plan on getting at least one thing done this week

I haven't played zombies in like a month. I was also having a bit of trouble writing about maps.
I have been doing some things to help improve my editing so it should be good.

P.S. If 30 seconds is too short it could be 1 minute or something

Due to the increase in features added to some custom maps, I would think a '60 second review' would be much more appropriate, but as Trem say's, try doing it first and we can let you know whether it works or not.

60 seconds allows you time to mention all the features of a map where as 30 seconds could see you miss out on mentioning key features that make each map unique from others.
