Warehouse (Map name subject to change)

I wasn't gonna do another map for WaW, but here I am :)
With a lot of support from Harry, I have started production of one final map for WaW, The theme is a warehouse, put simply, but there might be more to it than that...

Not much has been done on the mapping side so far, but with Harry at the helm script-side progress has been good.
Many of the features of the BO2 mod will be appearing in this map, such as the Panzer, Dig Sites, HUD, Shield, Perks and many other exciting features.

Obviously the lighting is atrocious at the minute, im still getting my head around decent lighting, it seems everything casts really dark, square shadows that it is impossible to light up behind, I get black brushes despite lights directly on top of them, and lights seem to have no effect unless their intensity is at least 3.

I am assuming this will be another harry/pro team? There's much to look forward too as I am a big fan of both of your skills

Certainly that way so far :)

And about the lighting, it looks good in some areas, where the "sun" can shine in, but when I close off the map to be in the building it will look different, I actually have massive issues with shadows and specific brushes not lighting up properly, im hoping the lighting will look good when it comes close to being finished

This image kinda shows what I mean with the lighting, as well as some spawn room progress  ::)

You can see some brushes (top of the door notably) are blackened, and then the left side of the door is lighter, despite them being the exact same texture, just positioned differently

Im not taking gun requests as such. Bear in mind ghosts guns take a lot of effort to port, and its difficult to get sounds for them.

M27 could be done without too much trouble, but Ameli, die to having 7/8 different sounds for its reload anims, will be VERY difficult to do as I have to judge the exact frame each sound should play, without actually having the sound files.
Its typically the simple mag in/out guns I can do, wheres LMGs and that with intricate reloads I avoid :P

Spent a fair few hours on this, came out pretty well :)
the sights are a tad dodgy with the materials, like you cant see the "glass" the ICR has, and the green dot is missing, but ive spent so long on this and ive no idea how to fix the material stuff :lol:

Spec map wise it looks pretty good, though like you said, you never got the green site part done.
I suggest that if you do fix the site, make the green parts an unlit or effects material that way it has a glow to it - similar to bo3.

Yeah I got the orange bit and that set to unlit, but for some reason the green bit seems to be absent, I converted all the materials as they came and this is the result, it looks good, animates well, no intersections, so its fine by me.
I used official col and normal maps, but did my own cos and spec, came out alright

Its quite possible that the green part had the verts too close together so the converted deleted them, I've had it happen on a couple of bo3 weapons.

Just an update on this, it is unlikely this map will see release.

I ended up running into issues with quite a few things, some were cut, some I still had issues with.
At the minute the .map is finished, but the mod is in a pretty bad state, and I don't really have the motivation to work on it.
I have exams in less than a month, and Bo3 tools will be out hopefully soon after that, so WaW will fall into obscurity.

I am not 100% ruling out a release of this, but Im just gonna say its highly unlikely it will get released.

EDIT: I have passed on the .map to Ninjaman829, and given him full permission to add a mod/release it with any changes, if this sees release, it will be linked here :)

the version he has I'm not sure if it's 100% stable - as it was formerly the copy in the bo2 mod rather than the standalone

Also small thing.

Should weapons have normals specs and cosines? It would drastically reduce the maps size if I didnt have them. Around 130Mb would be cut off without them. Map size would be around 413Mb if I included them. (Big size due to having harrys perks IWD.

Id say yes keep them, because at the end of the day its only initial download speed thats gonna be affected by map file size.
Id take 10 minutes extra download time for guns to look a ton nicer :)

What does everyone else think?

Nor sir, the ICR is in the map, so is the m1014, but no intervention I'm afraid.

(Id have pics, but waw doesnt like having so many specs and cosines in the map lol)
