Title: How do i seperate a 3D model in Maya ? :I

Hello , i got a 3D gun ( https://gyazo.com/dbde6ef4fbf32b867b33062e2c1693e5 ) and i want to rig, animate it and than port to WaW, thats why i ask how do i select the mag ?! everytime i press on the mag i only get the full gun :U how can i seperate it to a mag and the gun

in your left list, select the "+ sign" to the left of the blue plane besides "mesh". there you can select the individual meshes

keep clicking the plush signs untils theres no more sub sections.

in the polygons tab, use these two buttons. Red one to seperate meshes and the green one to combine them again after that..

in the polygons tab, use these two buttons. Red one to seperate meshes and the green one to combine them again after that..

When i do this it will make from one mesh to 2 meshes (mag/gun) when i press the red will it be a tool like a pencil to show where is s mesh and where another? Could you be so kind and show me example?   :gusta:

Well, that's what you wanted right? It depends on the model on how it gets seperated, some models only have one or two meshes and others have tons of them.

Because my pic was taken in maya2012 and you use 8.5 it might looks a bit different, but just look for the buttons named 'seperate' and 'combine'.
For 'seperate':
-select the model
-press the button
-it will be seperated in an x number of meshes

For 'combine':
-select the meshes you want to combine all at the same time
-press the button

The tool does not look like a pencil as far as i know, it's prob the wrong tab/button you are using..

what does compare do ? can i still press one the seperated meshes or will it be like before after that
