here's something i want to ask you guys: have you ever bought a set of PC parts or a laptop and you just regret it because of how it runs? do you have to save more cash on better stuff because of that situation? i'd usually live by the words "be happy and make use of what you have" but it's just what i'm curious about.

nope, cause i investigate for about a week to make sure that it is exactly what i want, usually by checking benchmarks, and comparing to others of similar price and my current setup(i only use laptops)

Once, I bought a Bluetooth mouse by Microsoft for my Laptop, it had good reviews, but I found it too jerky even for general use, I brought it back and got a refund, but that has been the only time I've "regretted" but I feel there was a fault with it as I tried another Bluetooth mouse my friend had a Logitech Bluetooth Mouse (M557) and it worked on my laptop.
Other than that, I do research like smasher into what I buy.

Oh, I wasn't thinking on that sort of scale, yeah I think I have bought 2 shitty mice in the past, one was logitech, and the other was sandstrom or something(iirc) both were wireless and had horrible delay when playing games. I found them unusable, and just have them as back ups for when my current mouse fails.

The worst thing I have bought for my PC was my GPU. I ordered a GTX 960 2GB Strix OC Edition, only to find out my power supply was too weak for it.
As a result, I had to order a new PSU and that meant more money :(

I was really happy when I bought my gtx 970, and I still am to a point; however, after recently hearing about nvidia's pascal cards coming out soon I kinda feel like I should have waited since they are 80% more powerful than the last generation of cards.

For the same price? Or are they going to be 80% more expensive too lol?

A little bit more expensive, but they are going to be around $400-500

How much was your 970?

$350 canadian which is about $250 american

So they will be about double the price then? Doesn't sound too great to me. Hopefully they reduce the price of the top end 'old gen' cards when they come out though.

I would total have paid $150-200 more for a card that is almost twice as powerful

Yeh but your card is already like double the price of mine and is probably about 2x as powerful (?) I got a 2gb 750.
