Messages - ProGamerzFTW

I am currently trying to implement this feature but the link to: http://ugx-mods.com/downloads/tutorials/trem_hintstrings.iwd doesn't work anymore.

I know the source is on the wiki but you commented this in the script:
//|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
//|||| Name     : trem_hintstrings.gsc
//|||| Info     : Fixes hintstrings that don't update.
//|||| Site     : www.ugx-mods.com
//|||| Author       : [UGX] treminaor
//|||| Notes        : v1.3
//|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

I checked it and I think you only forgot to change the version number from 1.3 to 1.4?

Yeah he simply forgot to change the version number there. Doesn't change anything ingame though. ^^

fx editor

Verify it.

Well so far we don't even have a damn FX editor to even make FX with, so until that happens really nothing to do with custom fx is really that possible. You have to do it all by hand and its dumb.

There is an FX editor, there is a document on it in docs_modtools folder. It's built into radiant itself.

Did you spawn them in or got them from the box? If it's like WaW, spawned in ones from commands don't work.

Sorry, not quite sure how to invert separate channels with gimp. Nevermind, edited OP

Did you add anything recently to your mapname.gsc?

Or

Open in any image editor and invert the image

Aha, didn't know that's all it did.

Edit: Inverting actually inverts the bumps with it too, so it's not quite the same.

Converting DUDV to Normal Maps

The Problem

Has your normal map been making your texture look weird from ripped models?

The main reason is because APE converts it to a DUDV map, causing what you rip is not the raw normal map.

DUDV map:

BAD DUDV map preview when imported into radiant as a normal map: (Why it looks weird on models)

Properly Converted Normal Map: (looks like the first DUDV map again in the preview)

The Guide

Method 1 (Thanks to HitmanVere)

1. Download GIMP from https://www.gimp.org/downloads/

2. Launch GIMP. Open your image.

3. Open Brushes Window if not already open. (Window > Brushes) In the brushes window, click the Channels tab and only have the Blue Channel highlighted.

4. In the main window, Colors > Invert. (If it still looks strange, try the green channel aswell.)

5. Now to save, click File > Export As... and go to the directory you want to save and click export. Note: Make sure the name before clicking export has .tif or .tiff in the name.

Repeat 3-5 for other images.

Method 2

1. Download GIMP from https://www.gimp.org/downloads/

2. Download the Normalmap plugin from https://code.google.com/archive/p/gimp-normalmap/downloads

3. In the downloaded Normalmap archive, extract normalmap.exe to Installation Directory\GIMP 2\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins

4. In the downloaded Normalmap archive, extract all to .dll files to Installation Directory\GIMP 2\bin

Note: Installation Directory is normally C:\Program Files\

5. Launch GIMP. Open your image. Click on Filters > Maps > Normalmap...

6. Change conversion to "DUDV to Normal" and click OK. Your image should look like a regular normal map now.

7. Now to save, click File > Export As... and go to the directory you want to save and click export. Note: Make sure the name before clicking export has .tif or .tiff in the name.
Repeat 5-7 for any images you'd like to convert.

If anyone knows how to convert with photoshop or anything else, feel free to post here and I'll add.

Edit: With the latest Wraith update, this may no longer be needed.

It was fine then all of a sudden I can no longer move ANYTHING around my map? Can anyone help me?

Can you atleast select them? If so, did you increase the grid size to a massive amount and forgot to change it back?
8 years ago
I'm not sure if this is completely correct but, when i've been making custom scripts I put them in share/raw/scripts/custom and it reads them fine there.

Could be that it only reads from the raw/scripts and not usermaps/zm_mapname/scripts.

The weird thing is that even changes to the raw/scripts one doesn't change anything

So I've copied _zm_magicbox.gsc into the script folder in usermaps/mapname/zm/scripts and added scriptparsetree,scripts/zm/_zm_magicbox.gsc to my zone but no changes are being made after linking.

Is there anything I may be doing wrong?

Not sure if just me, but the loadscreen download is the same link to the map download.

Wait, didn't you already ask this before? I definitely remember someone having this issue with this exact script.
