This is a guide for how to play the custom maps you find on this website.
1) You need Call of Duty: World at War. If you don't have it, you need to buy it. We do not support pirated copies and people often run into problems with them.

Have you tried signing up for the site where the map is located? ZM requires that.

The download manager has all of the maps approved by the UGX team for download. click the map you want then click the "download" button(forgot what it's called) in the upper middle right corner.

I just Downloaded UGX and I wanted to try it out. To my suprise it didn't work :o The map mnager says exactly this: Unable to connect to the UGX-Mods Download server.Check Windows Firewall settings and allow map manager. The only thing that could be the problem is a firewall or antivirus blocking the program from connecting to the internet. The server is currently online and there are no issues with connection at this time.

If you meant the Map Manager version and not UGX Mod, we do not have a release date for the new version yet, and sending you a new exe is never going to help because the problem is on your computer.

Hey I just wanted to say,there's been a problem with my computer I think.Whenever I download zombie maps and play them,the screen goes black and it's probably not loading because I waited 30 mins.Could it be a virus?I have a security system on my computer and maybe I should be careful next time.How do I get rid of the problem even if it is not a virus?

I found the patches some where else..thanks for the help. Im not sure if this is the right place to ask this ,but my son loves zombies but isn't good with the keyboard/mouse combination yet..Is there anyway to use a controller with these mods?

Yes. Assuming you already have a controller set up which works with games that officially support Xbox 360 controller input, all you need to do is this:
Boot up World at War. Go to Options, Game Options, and make sure "Enable Console" is set to "Yes". Next, press the ~ key to open the console. The key is located to the left of the 1 key, under ESC. This will open the console. Type "exec default_controller.cfg" into the console (without quotes), and hit enter. This will add binds for all of the controller buttons to your player profile. You can now play the game with a controller. Please note that none of the menus are compatible with the controller input, only the in-game character.
The upcoming UGX Mod v1.1 update will have controller support on nearly all menus.

HELP!!! I cant play .exe maps,just .zip - why can i not play .exe maps? Can someone help me please?!
The .EXE is an installer, have you launched the installer and let it install the map? If so check if it is placing the map's folder in "C:\Users\*USERNAME*\AppData\local\Activision\CoDWaW\mods". If not make sure you are running the installer as an administrator by right clicking on the .EXE and clicking "Run as Administrator".

Whenever I try to download a map it says it has malware, what should I do? I am running UGX Map Manager finely.
Allow the program through your anti-virus, it is not malware I assure you.

I have a problem with installing exe files and they don't show in my mod folder can these exe files be unzipped so I can put them in my mods folder with the other working maps??

The installers purpose is to unzip files and place them in a specific directory. First ensure you are running the installer as an administrator, otherwise it may not have permission to place files inside your mods folder. Second ensure you have the correct registry keys that are used to detect the correct folder on your system. If you do not know what that means download the UGX Weapons Editor (http://ugx-mods.com/forum/index.php?topic=1535) and use the CodWaW Registry Repair tool under "Tools".

Once the mod is launched you need to type "map *MAPNAME*" in the console. *MAPNAME* being the name of the map you are attempting to play. Ex: "map nazi_zombie_420".

Even though Norton says the program is safe it is still possible that the norton or windows firewall is blocking the program's connection to our server. Please make sure you have taken the necessary steps to allow UGX Map Manager.exe through all of your firewall(s).

I used the ugx map manager and it created a mods folder in the users/youruser/appdata/codwaw
Run the map manager as Administrator.

I just tried running as an Administrator and downloaded Comosea and then launched solo....in the mods section of the main menu, it doesnt show the mod but I have the option to launch or launch without mods....very strange

Bottom left corner of waw will say version, if it isn't 1.7 patch it up to that, I apologize for jumping to conclusions with the cracked thing.

UGX mod, will only load, when you load a mod that uses the UGX mod?
To go back to default just hit "load without mods" if you wanna play stock stuff?
If you mean custom maps without the UGX mod, then thats down to the mapper. Some maps have a UGX version and a non-UGX version

if by ugx mod manager you mean the "UGX map manager", you simply download the installer, or in some cases they provide a link to the mod folder from the mapper or post
If its the installer just run it
If its the mod folder you need to place it into "C:\USERS\YOUUSER\APPDATA\ACTIVISION\CALLOFDUTY5\MODS"
As long as its in there, it will appear in the "Load Mod" menu within COD.
If it doesnt, then there is a problem with that particular mod

If you mean you hit solo and nothing happens then in the console type "map nazi_zombie_minecraft" or whatever the map is.

if you download a mod that doesnt come in a installer, then drag it to "C:usersyouruserappdataactivisioncall of duty 5 world at warmods"
Itll then appear in the mod menu, load it there and itll take you back to the title screen. Either start it with the solo button, or if one isnt provided, open the console with ¬
type "/map MAPNAME" (eg. mine is nazi_zombie_castle_briannia, so you would put /map nazi_zombie_castle_britannia)

But if you mean to play the mods, youd create a folder called "mods" in "c:\users\youruser\appdata\activision\call of duty world at war\"
if you mean where is the mods folder when you are making one its in

Make sure you don't have any loose files in your mods folder.

I have some sort of steam error when using the map manager. when i try to launch the mod from the UGX map manager thingy, i get an error called steam error, Application error 5:0000065434. I dont know what to do and it was working fine before, so I think i messed up something.

i got problems with some patches :/ i downloaded all patches , i installed patch 1.1 and patch 1.2 but at patch 1.4, 1.5 and 1.6 it tells me that these version of these patches are incompatible with the German release of Call of Duty - World at War what i need to now? :/ i want to play zombiessssssssssss ;(

Ok I'm having a really serious problem, so if anyone can help that would be great! So I downloaded a custom map and it brought me to the setup wizard (or whatever it's called) and I installed the map. At the end, it told me that the map was installed and to play it all I had to do was open WaW and click mods. I opened WaW and clicked mods but the map wasn't there. Please note that I did make a mods folder in WaW. Also note that the map was a .exe file and not a rar file. Thanks to anyone who helps!

the exe is a "installer" that will install the mod "for" you

I don't like complaining but....I have aproblem.My game runs everytime but the problem is when I press solo/singleplayer/to play alone on any map,it never works....Nothinbg comes up and it's really sad.
I have a cope of World at war from a CD not Steam.

All works perfectly fine, but how do you play co-op with your friends? I don't know how to make a free server so can somebody help me with a recent guide of how to make a server? And my friend also doesn't receive game invites from me and vica versa

you dont need your own server. Just create a private lobby and invite your friends
make sure they have all loaded the same mod first

make sure you put the space in between the function and the number
do it before loading the map, or load the map with /devmap instead of /map
you need to be able to access the console
Anyway ugx maps have a slider in the options for FOV

Either just dont load the mod, in which case the error will not occur. But if you want to the delete it, remove the mod from :
c:\user\youruser\appdata\activision\call of duty 5\mods

The game and the mod tools are years old now, any modern pc should be able to run it
The UGX mod is just a mod made using the Cod Mod tools - which belong to Treyarch/Activision
To sum up, if the PC can run the game (even a pentium 4 can) then you can run the mod tools or the UGX mod

I literally just downloaded waw from steam and downloaded the ugx manager and then went to the map leviathan, there were two download options "media fire" and "mega" both took me to different pages to start downloading and both of which fucked me over cause now I have all these programs on my computer that I don't want, I really regret attempting to download that map, I can't uninstall a few of these programs or delete their files without it freezing my computer, I'm using my iPhone to write this cause I just turned off my computer and walked away, I'm fucking pissed cause I've only had this computer less than a month, and I'm Computer illiterate and I don't know how get these bullshit programs off

I have downloaded the UGX christmas map and I click tools and go into it then click launch solo. WAW loads up as if I just clicked it to play normally and it works but when I click mods nothing shows up it still says Launch without mods though. When I try to play it by typing "map ugx_christmas" nothing happens. Someone Please explain

I have the map manager downloaded and a few maps downloaded as well, but when i launch the maps either from the manager or the game itself, the map never loads. When i go to the mods list, there are no mods. I don't understand. I have a folder i my WAW file called mods, but there is nothing in it. Someone help

i have problem with waw, i cannot see any maps in the mod list. I bught a key from buydlplay, in the description of the product was saying "direct download" so i thought ill dll it and ill get a valid copy of the game withing a cd key. Unfortunately it wasnt so, ive only got the key, so i basically take a cracked version of the game and i have activated it. I dont know if thats the issue. My mods folder is in appdata/local/activision/codwaw/mods each one its in seperate folders, my game is patched to 1.7 everything its ok, i can play online on servers etc, but i cannot see any of the maps in the mod list. I use ugx map manager to dll the maps. i use it to run the maps also, but its the same thing none are in the list. Somebody have a clue?

Zone_source is only editable for the developers of the map, not any regular players. If it's just that one map, go and download another one. If it's with any map, try reiinstalling it and patching it to V1.7 (If you have the non-steam version).

I don't know how to explain this so stay with me on this. So I downloaded the UGX Map Manager and I downloaded LSD, ugx_cabin, ugx_camosea. So when I open my WaW I click on mods and it doesn't show anything; even though I downloaded the maps. So I went back to the UGX Map Manager and clicked "Tools" then I clicked on Launch Maps, I picked LSD and it started up my World at War but it didn't have a solo start button. So I opened up the console and put: devmap LSD I don't know if I did the right command or something. Hope you can help me on this! ;)

Hola a todos, soy nuevo en este mundo y nose que estoy haciendo mal porque no puedo jugar customs maps. Descargue e instale el cod waw pirata, le puse los 7 parches y lo de las misiones y los zombies. Ahora me he descargado algunos customs y los he instalado o en su defecto copiado en la carpeta appdata/Activision/mods y en la carpeta C/archivos de programa.../Activision/mods, ya que si no los pongo en esta segunda carpeta, dentro del juego no me sale la opción de ejecutar dichos mods o customs. Ya dentro del juego, me salen dichos mods o customs, los ejecuto y luego desde la consolo pongo: /map nombre del custom; o si el mapa lleva su propio menú entra directamente. Ahora viene el fallo, ni entrando desde la consola ni desde el menu del propio custom me deja jugarlos. ¿Que estoy haciendo mal? Espero vuestras respuestas, gracias.

So I got the ugx launcher to play custom maps with some friends but we currently moved on to other games, and in the meantime I might as well uninstall unneeded programs. I can't find an uninstall option in the launcher itself and the program doesn't have an uninstall option in control panel. I know I'm pretty inept, but can anybody help me uninstall this?

the manager only installs the maps for you, and by "install" all i mean is it extracts the mod and places it in your appdata folder, where they need to be

Hey, I'm having a problem with the map manager. I got ugx_requiem to work for a few times when I started using the manager. Then after I restarted my computer while in a game session of WAW. I loaded up the manager and launched requiem again and it asked me to run it in safe mode and I said no because I really didn't want to change my controls again. After that, it didn't bring me to the custom requiem screen like it usually does, it brought me to the default WAW screen. I tested this on other maps from the map manager and it keeps doing it and I can't load up the maps through console either. I have absolutely no idea how to fix it. If anyone can help me, I would appreciate it a lot!

Hi! I just recently got a new computer, and tried to run the map manager on it, but alas, it can't connect to this site. On my old computer, Windows 7, it worked just fine, no problems. But now, on Windows 10, even after giving it an exception on my firewall, it still says an internet connection can't be made, I'm not sure what to do since the servers obviously aren't down and the firewall exception has been granted. Just in case I've done something wrong, I'm trying to run UGX Map Manager 1.4.4 app and I've allowed a firewall exception to UGX Map Updater WForms. Thanks for the help! -Bdog

Either Steam or buy disc from store. There are sites where you can get keys from as well, but Steam is the best option

How do i install a map which ISN'T in the ugx download manager... an outside one.
Launch the map exe which can be downloaded via the Release topic for the map. Once the exe is downloaded you can launch it and follow the easy steps which will automatically install the map for you. once that is completed you can press "finish" in the installer. This will cause it to close and the installed map will now be in your mods section of WaW which can be accessed via the main menu. A few side notes that I would give is to ensure that the exe is run as admin and is installing completely. Hope this helps! Have fun playing!

Im having a problem with version 1.4.4 where I go to launch maps and hit "Launch In Solo" and it takes me to the main menu. Thats ok, but when I look in the mods section it doesnt show anything. Ive tried to launch the maps through the console but that didnt work. Help?

i have done all the steps i was able to download the maps but i dont know how to actually run the custom map on world at war

I downloaded this about a year ago with no problems, but I had to reset my computer so I downloaded it again, but it is not allowing me to download any of the maps. It pops up with an error message - "Could not access the file requested. Please try another mirror or try again later. Error: System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden." Then just random stuff after that.
Any help so I can get back to playing would be greatly appreciated :)

I am having trouble with old maps that start with nazi_zombie_pirateship for example these maps were downloaded from zom mods. I am wondering if it was because some were zip files I did an extract all on a windows 10 still not working even when I try console commands like devmap, spdevmap, map, I do not know the reason for this. I do have ugm mod installer version 1.0 not sure if that makes a difference

when I launch a map it takes me to the campaign and when i click on mods it says launch and launch without mods but in the list there is nothing their

I've downloaded the ugx application, downloaded Leviathan and another map on it, yet they don't appear in my Mod Menu when I open WaW, I've tried Zombiemodding and that didn't work, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game and retrying, and the maps still don't appear in my Mod menu, all of my friends, tutorials and the steps are crystal clear, and I do everything that needs to be done, and it still doesn't work. P.s. My WaW was purchased from Steam. :( :-\

So, I've downloaded the steam version but it gave a different set of files that doesn't include the mods file and isn't named activision, what do I do?

it's cool how there's not been any help to people asking my question that I can understand.
I've done everything correctly. I don't have an antivirus installed at the moment. On the map manager, whenever I try to launch a map (We'll say the Nazi Zombies version of cs_assault), it takes me to the game and nothing happens.
I tried to launch it with the console (map cs_assault) but nothing happened.
None of the mods show up in the mod list.
If anyone else has solved this problem, help would be really nice. Help from staff would be highly appreciated.

I do not get a start game button when trying to play a custom map. I also do not have a save and close on the UGX Mod Options for FOV, hitmarkers, FOV in ADS, Weapon Bob/Sway, Using Controller, and Joystick.

I use the custom maps it downloads and says its in my mods folder but when i launch the game, its nowhere to be found Im using windows 10 any help?

Ok so ive had multiple problems trying to get mods and custom maps to work on my PC. I finnaly installed the UGX mod manager and it runs fine. when i download maps from ugx and other websites it shows up in the manager just fine. but when i got to tools and try to run a map, World at War will start perfectly but when i click "mods" nothing comes up. and also checked my mods folder and nothing was there either. i need halp

Say you re-named your Custom Map files for more organization. Because re-naming them doesn't effect you in solo mode. But it effects you trying to play Co-op.
How do you find the original 'Mapname'? Is the original Mapname in one of the files that's in that particular Custom Zombies Mod folder? If not, how?

So im having some problems with the map manager. I try to access the mods and it says it loads, but it doesn't load anything, it just reverts to the normal startup screen. could it be a small bug in the system? i can't seem to access most of the custom mods i get from here either.

The only thing that could be the problem is a firewall or antivirus blocking the program from connecting to the internet. The server is currently online and there are no issues with connection at this time.
a question they found the answer to that problem is that I have the same and I already know about the firewall

When I try to install the ugx map manager it gives me an error saying that I can't connect to the internet when I'm clearly am and also it says that the firewall might be blocking it but i added it to the fire wall please help! >:(

This is a guide for how to play the custom maps you find on this website.
1) You need Call of Duty: World at War. If you don't have it, you need to buy it. We do not support pirated copies and people often run into problems with them.
