i dont know why i get this error when i try to compile map- ERROR MAX MAP NODES
i really need help -  i dont know how to fix this and i dont want to lose my map because of this stupid error

go into radiant, load up your map, when it's loaded press i and then right click and choose detail. You will see that the black lines become green. That's because you can't have too many structural brushes in your map and structures that you make are usually black lines, so make them green lines by doing the steps above.

Max_Map_nodes and pathnodes are different.
If there isn't any other launcher errors then its probably bad brushes. Usually launcher has a -1073#### error if it's the structural brushes limit.

The error wasn't "max_map_nodes" it was lots of "node without volume" errors.
Each one had a location for the error in launcher and most were brushes completely inside other brushes, brushes not snapped-to-grid, or two brushes not aligned together(snapped to grid).
After fixing them the map compiled.

if u make 1000 nodes and accidentally press space on 1 so it's overlapping another pathnode or traverse it will screw it all up! :D not sure who told me this but never put a pathnode in a traverse or inside of each other for that very reason in years just as overall good practice but see it here:


Maybe its just a myth lol but Glad the map compiles and works but do try stay on the grid unless you rotate a prefab or model etc

Max_map_nodes has nothing to do with pathnodes or traverse.
Max_map_node is from raw/maps/mapname.d3dprt file. Each structural brush adds a line to .d3dprt file, detail and patches don't count, brushes connected get merged into 1 line. Once you get ~65556 in d3dprt lines you get max_map_nodes error.

yeah i never read the script or the error :D when i personally just see some obvious stuff in radiant and fix them along the way, This was more just common sense to not spam things into other things hehe just wanted to give you a good rule of thumb.

yeah removing those pathnodes will be easy man but some of my friends told me that its not about the pathnodes - i have to do more stuff(which idk how)to get rid of this error - its not that easy they told me
